The closest we have come to a definition of privacy is probably “the right to be left alone,” but that seems quaint in an age when we are constantly dependent on digital services. In the context of A.I., “the right to not be manipulated by computation” seems almost correct

Maybe someone can enlighten me but I really don't understand how either of these description make any sense at all. How is it not better described as "the right to decide what data can be extracted"?

Maybe that's on me for missing it. Either way, the improvement is not enough for me to justify the extra cost.

I was hoping to switch to Claude but was waiting until they had a better model than Codex 5.5. When Fable came out I immediately bought the $100 plan. When the government shut it down they gave the option to cancel which I appreciated. I planned to subscribe again once it was back. However, removing it from the subscription once back has really soured me. I can't help feeling like it was a bait and switch. Even if they added it back, I'm not sure I trust it will stay. I now have no plans to switch back from Codex.

I had Flashback on Sega Genesis as a kid. For whatever reason, I was unable to get past the first obstacle. I had a similar experience with Myst. After a while I came back to those games and now they are two of my all time favorite games. I was excited to see The Last Night revive the rotoscope style but sadly it was never finished. I saw Replaced picked up the mantle so I created an account and purchased it on Steam before realizing it's windows only and I'm macOS :(

I was really nervous about the update to Liquid Glass based on comments like this but my experience has been really positive. I love the new contextual tooltip menu when I try to select text and other thoughtful details. Maybe there’s things I’m not bumping into?

This is such a great response. It leaves me wishing I could delete my comment. A.I. told me there was a 2020 match between Lakers and Globetrotters which the Lakers won. Turns out it was a fictional match. I've had great success with mob programming so that's where my brain was at.

I would argue the opposite. If your collaboration sucks IMHO you haven’t done enough. It’s a skill. Imagine you’re playing a team sport and you recommended people play together less to win more games. Now look up Globetrotters vs Lakers.

What a cool demonstration. My automatic response was “red” for traffic light. Although, a different part of my brain re-evaluated given the context. The question in my mind now, is the auto response a building block to the latter or is that orchestration a fully separate system?

One impact I’ve seen is small businesses who can no longer afford the tools/supplies they need, which aren’t manufactured in the states, so they are forced to increase their prices on good they sell or go out of business.

If I were to pick a place to tax, the addictive, harmful substances seem like a good option. But that’s easy for me to say because I don’t smoke. I do like sugar though. Imagine the impact on our health if there were a sugar tax.

Wish I could see this! My iPhone 16 blocked viewing because of, I think, expired certificate. At least, that’s the error I think I got initially and now it just says the page belongs to a category that is blocked. :(

Wasn’t seeing what OCR stands for, I believe it’s Optical Character Recognition.

I worked at New Relic and focused specifically on improving page load performance for one of the products using our RUM data. Even after combining/parallelizing API calls then embedding the data into the page, I found there was still an average 3-6 second average page load cost using React vs an already rendered HTML page which was nearly instant. Not huge but frustrating to discover the constraint when it was my task to improve it and our company was trying to be an example of great performance.

I thought they could be recycled but at the moment it’s cheaper to mine. Is that not true?

It is. I think their point is “10x fewer” makes sense if you imagine going from a denominator of 20 to 200.
