Mouse models are rapidly becoming obsolete as it's becoming easier than ever to model entire, differentiated tissues grown from red blood cell-derived adult stem cells.

It's also now possible to do clinically-useful testing of targeted treatments using genetically-edited control tissue cultures against unedited tissue cultures.

The point is that it's better to test something that is as close to the patient as possible, not guess with other species or even other people whom express genes differently.

FYI: making a new mouse models requires lots of chopping off heads of mice whom don't possess the desired gene. While transgenic, highly-edited living models might be nice, there's probably a more humane/simpler/reproducible way to do the exact same thing.

There is a subtle danger in only selecting candidate (people) whom think, act of look like you... the venture may end, not for a lack of talent or capability, but for a lack of ideas or questioning the normative, cultural convention.

Mongo could refuse this by demonstrating collaboration efforts and solutions with a solution marketplace similar Atlasssian and VMware. Big PWR/BWR reactors will always be too inherently dangerous because of high pressures and too expensive to build, regulate and insure (in the US, without insurance and NRC approval, there is no project). And the risks of dual-purpose reactors and long-term storage for large amounts of waste.

Taylor Wilson's TED talk on low pressure, molten salt, modular reactors built as standardized modules with a scram / recycle pool underneath and made in a factory is one of the best ways to go. Smaller, isolated, modular setups limit failure risk compared to a single reactor having a big, explosive meltdown. The other one is thermal generation using chip-like technology with tiny amounts of radiological material isolated in individual "wells" making it safer, more efficient and scalable for many types of battery and generation use-cases.

I think we can do fission safer, cheaper and smarter, responsibly, but repeating the same failures by taking the same risks without learning from the past is inherently dumb.

As someone who's actually worked in the nuclear energy industry, it's a common but wrong refrain... diffusion of petrochem radioactivity is much less of a liability than the very real, concentrated dangers of radioisotopes, even factoring in all of the other many negatives of coal.

The other big change that would be beneficial in (?:Obj)?C(?:++)? would be const-by-default, requiring something like `var` for anything that's truly a variable, since `mutable` has a specific meaning in (?:Obj)?C++. It would be consistent with the theme of least-privilege, and allow for more optimizations of one-time and per-loop iteration values.

Another great, modern C++ feature: `constexpr` functions, methods and compile-time constants have the potential to put most, but not all, macros out-of-business... Macros are powerful for DRYing C/C++ similar code sections which cannot be expressed with templates, lambdas or function pointers, for macro pasting identifiers together and for project configuration management for (ie, kernel hardware support). Defines also don't occupy space but also lose semantic value in debugging because they're computed at compile time and spread out wherever they're used... debuggers encountering `constexpr`s should offer both the computed value and a way to debug or debug (not program code at all) how that value was constructed: gdb and lldb should be able to handle that with plugins.

Here's also how we compile most our code, using both gcc and clang, on both stable and head:

I would also really like to see C++1[7z] concepts implemented by major compilers, because this will make our code a whole lot simpler by reduce the hacks for runtime and compile-time type checking, and make generic programming much cleaner by being able to constrain requirements via arbitrary bool constexprs.

Distributed is much more swat proof, and the clear way to go because it reduces the SPOF of a single domain or API taking everyone down.

Popcorn Time proved to be another Lavabit doomed to fail as expected... you need Popcorn Time beauty and ease of use with distributed "netflix meets TPB meet Wikipedia meets i2p" voting and metadata corrections to ensure the system is as reliable as the number of reachable users, not subject to some half-assed, un-swat proof central SPOF servers that don't have at least as good hosting and security as TPB.
