There's a lot of red tape/administrative confusion at most schools if you want to do anything interdisciplinary, especially if you want to cross more than two disciplines. Institutions should be more like buffets for the polymath. If I want to interlink say landscape architecture, sculpture, acoustics, materials science and biology I shouldn't need more than one signoff much less the 5 it would probably take to do work in something like that at most universities.

You know how everyone shouts learn to code? To coders/founders I say learn to design. Or give more of your equity than you think you should to a designer. The nice thing about design is its pretty easy to see examples and references and most designers would actually be happy to work at a start up from the beginning as part of the founding team, its just that in a lot of the tech world designers aren't viewed as integral until after the fact and really the track record of design-led startups and your reaction to ones that are polished out of the gate should indicate otherwise. Contrary to what OP said /u/iMuzz isn't really even a unicorn designer, there's plenty just like them, you've just got to decide its important and find a way to invest time, money, or effort.

Everyone always writes these and yet I've seen very few ever talk about how to decide what's worth showing up for or how to get a working hypothesis of an animating principle for your own existence. It'd be remarkably useful to have a working framework for how to figure out what to want, especially targeted at smart people with top level talents in several areas.

If you design and sell tshirts globally on the internet or freelance copy edit for clients in and out of country or exhibit and sell your art internationally these are all sorts of things that are not in competition with local employment but currently have limited movement and residency options. They're not pure examples but I think they work for what people are typically concerned with when it comes to immigration and residency.

This shouldn't just be for the remotely employed. We need to do more decouple freedom of movement from employment by a company.

I can't think of a TRUE statement that you'll be cancelled for. I can think of a lot of opinions presented as truths that will get you cancelled. For my edification, can you all please present some hypothetical examples of current TRUE statements that cannot/should not be said?

Something like "Fat people are a burden on a healthcare system" is true and won't get you cancelled.

Something like "Trans people are currently the gender they were born" is a philosophical opinion and might get you cancelled but whether its true or not is a sort of Ship of Theseus problem.

Something like "Donald Trump has a low IQ" may impede your work progress but that has its own implications about cancel culture that aren't what we're talking about.

So please for the sake of argument, show me an actual truth that will get you cancelled. Seriously looking for examples...

We need 20 to 30 million tests a day to "restart" America. We can produce at that level, but we're not. We can debate the moral choices once someone in charge shows some competence. Until then it's basically insanity to have a defined solution and not attempt it. We're in a hole and debating throwing other people into holes instead of mass producing ladders.
