I wanted to like SmartOS, but the documentation for Arch really had me spoiled. The Joyent/SmartOS docs are a mess of information for different versions that really aren't conducive to a confident first time user. That and it had problems with a pretty vanilla supermicro build. It did pick up my linux ZFS pool without a problem though, which was a nice surprise.

I'm fairly happy with my t540p, even has a socketed CPU for replacement. They're fairly cheap on eBay right now because they just came off lease from some larger companies.

I still don't really see the pro to Ryzen in this case. It would be cheaper/better to get a couple used sandy bridge era (or newer in some cases) xeons off ebay with a dual socket motherboard in the multithreaded case, or get an i7-7700 for single threaded performance while still having a reasonable amount of cores+threads to play with.

Have you played the current version of WoW and the vanilla version? They are radically different games. Those who were playing on nost were _never_ going to pay to play retail as it exists now. Blizzard cannot lose business to a private server that the would have never had in the first place.

"... way to get really cheap domains that I can turn a very generous profit on via domain parking"

Lost all respect for the author once I read that. Squatting on domains and making people who want to legitimately use the domains pay far above market rate is ridiculously scummy.
