Canada is embarking on a trade agreement with India and collectively our greatest fear is the immigration issue. Canada's immigration is already quite lop-sided.

As an IT worker, I honestly don't see many/any Cubans and Latinos in my day to day.

However I do see a ton, and I mean a ton of Indians and their hiring practices. Hence why I started my sentence with "I have personally witnessed it"

I have personally witnessed it myself. I have countless Indian friend who are candid with me. They are biased against whole communities. Blacks, Muslims, etc.

Indians hire Indians.

Brampton, Thorncliff, Scarborough, etc. There's no shortage of immigrant heavy neighborhoods.

Heck, I'm in Durham and the demographics are changing rapidly.

For non-Canadians, this may be hard to comprehend how quickly the demographics have shifted, but the Indians are here in person. No need to send the order to a call center in India. We have that many.

Canadian banks, telecoms, and even retail chains, have been shamelessly replacing Canadian workers with Indians for decades.

At this point, a plurality of our new immigrants come from one or two states in India.

I would challenge you to go to a coffee shop in any major city and try to find a Canadian worker.

Not sure what the future is for a Canadian worker, but it's bleak.

Anecdotally, most of my friends and acquaintances are making a conscious effort to boycott Israeli products.

Not sure what the relevance is but Starbucks seems to be the first to go.

I was am Amazon seller and absolutely hated it.

It is seemingly all run by bots. They delisted my product and none of the humans knew why. It is a bot that decided that and no one could answer what the reason was.

I welcome any competition that is more friendly to sellers.

I have been playing around with various GPTs lately by getting them to help me with my management consulting work. Usually analyzing docs and merging them or two me what the overlap is, etc.

My experience with Gemini pro is that it often completely and spectacularly misunderstands the ask. No other GPT comes close to getting it that wrong. As a result, I don't have a high level of confidence in it.

I find Mixtral to be quite impressive. It is by far the fastest and gives me good output. At least for big documents kind of work.

Canada has many issues.

Housing crisis is because of unsustainably high immigration levels.

In 2023 alone, there was a net inflow of over 1.3 million people. It's a lot for a country of 39 million. Where will they live?

Another major issue is the suppression of wages this causes.

Also there is a serious lack of diversity in the immigrant population (no cap by country as in the US). This is tearing apart the cultural fabric of communities.

Not sure how common knowledge this is, but there's a growing community of people using this for work from home gigs.

Toronto just added 14 new suburbs. Until a month ago, these thousands of acres were considered the "green belt" necessary for the functioning of a large metropolis. Now they'll be paved over.
