Never played Pokemon Go but in Ingress I'm pretty sure playing with multiple accounts (and devices) was a bannable offense.

I did meet a guy who carried a ridiculous amount of gear for playing. Batteries, portable wifi modules for group meets, antennae. Sims for every network in case signal was unavailable for some. Satelite phone for when there was none.

Wife and I use the Kore app. Less likely to forget where my phone is than a dedicated remote. Handy to have the youtube plugin and share a video to kodi from that app too.

It's rare to outright block an instance (for not moderating child porn or something of course but not otherwise really)

Instead most "blocks" are just muting from the federated timeline, precisely so that you're not cut off from contacts.

It's a nice place to be

No one has to care about which pair of celebs are arguing

No bloody advertising

People are building interesting stuff with it

Third party apps work

It's not run by a guy seemingly at war with his own users

Your parents aren't there

The people who left twitter years ago because of all the harassment and you've been missing are probably already there

If you've got a feature request or something, you can just toot Gargron and you will get a reply

The way I'd do it is set up a bot account that toots your twitter timeline, make it a locked account and only approve your mastodon account, make your replies to your mastodon bot then be tweeted from your twitter account. Build your own bridge, heh

You can export and import your follows. Yes it would be a different account. There is an option to mark your old account as "account has moved" and specify where you've gone, which an app could treat as a redirect.

I love how the term podcasting outlived dedicated personal music devices. For me it's testament to how solid the idea was.

Guess "box sets" is also doing that now everyone streams TV series.

The difference is that the same experiment in quantum terms would have you look at the ball through a colour filter and determine the probability of a range of possibilities (and therefore the other ball wherever it is) but then seeing the statistics show the particular filter you choose changes the probability of what colour ball you have and therefore the distant ball also
