In France STEM PhD are expected to last 3 year and the funding is sized like that. It is also considered as a job. It is only done if salary is funded in most cases.

Often it spill over a bit and I guess France travail (French job agency managing insurance for people losing their job) should often be cited /thanked in Phd student thesis for funding the final steps of their manuscript.

There are limited internship culture during the phd itself Afaik.

However phd is never started at Bachelor level, only after Msc that last two years and requires an internship or research projet.

I heard a person saying a bit like you that it is not enough to grow a Real expert though compared to US phd. But Oftentimes postdoc always follow for Longer and longer

Did you market the project as trusted? Récent update (à few month) requises the trust to reenable the analyses feature It took me a while to understand lol At Somme point I though that the parker were broken in my codebase xD

Young machine learning practitioners : That is why you should do not trust accuracy when doing a ML model on imbalanced datasets.

And in general, better use precision, recall, f1-score or confusion matrices

I quite like the idea of being skeptical of something but still hedging on its potential success. Thanks

One problem with technical tech is that it often talked about abstractly : "there is technical debt", "There are code smells", etc.

But if we want to use technical tech as a tool practically, we should be able to quantify the technical debt precisely.

We should be able to say I have 10 000 € per day or 100 000 € of technical debt.

I have developed (very early stage) a tool to quantify technical debt : I appreciate any feedback (if stated kindly :p)

Do you or one of your co-authors are looking for master II interns on this topic ? I am a Machine-learning MSc candidate at the Paris-Sud University looking for an internship in applied ML to other scientific fields like Physics or chemistry. I think that Generative models has great potential for system design. web curriculum : https://laurentcetinsoy.net/cv

You can contact me if you want a more formal version : )

Kind regards

I really hope that all open source documentation quality will increased by adopting such kind of tools. The fact that SO is used an informal documentation was a strong signal that there were much improvement to be done. I am just sad because I wanted to work on project like that :'(. Great job SO !

Dear Alan,

What do you think about EAST paradigm which tries to revamp the original spirit of OOP you stated ?

Do you think that the machine learning community suffer from the syndrome of "normal considered harmful". Like using vendor hardware instance of designing their own (FPGA for instance)

I have thought of something like that for teaching programming language, you dit it, this is very good ! You should make your tool a generic plateform an sell it to teaching organizations.
