Am I the only one who thinks that sounds pompous?

I can understand maybe being spammed from recruiters, but replying like this just brings you down to their level. It also makes software devs seem like jackasses. That would be the case if you were trashing Java or Python or any other language. I just don't really see the point of replying like this.

Why should they give a public explanation for something that should've stayed internal in the first place? This should've stayed between the OP, GitHub and GH's HR team.

That's probably not too wise as Google submitted data for... everything.

Hopefully, they get higher quality support reps with better understanding of English. I'd also like the ability to be able to call someone, that's something that GoDaddy does better. I guess they take advantage of the cheaper technical salaries in Eastern Europe though so that's why customers aren't able to talk to someone.

That is the most ridiculous thread I've ever seen from a company. Not only did the employee take a shot at people (self hosting solutions is wrong) he also epically, never delivered what the people were asking for even after FIVE YEARS!!

Does any one else find it odd a privacy centric phone's website won't load without scripts, cookies, etc? I would think they would have a text only version if items failed to load properly...

This is worse than what the NSA is doing as this will have a direct impact on EVERYONE, not just electronic users. This will also affect the poor and underprivileged more proportionately as well. I wonder why news organizations are not getting more involved and publicizing how bad this treaty truly is. It's ridiculous that governments who say they promote democracy demand that treaty negotiations are completely secret.

Can someone answer this question:

From a business perspective why is Google and Facebook getting involved in this and calling for the government to not track users. Won't that just bring more attention to their two business models of... wait for it... tracking users and selling their information?

Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Regina, Halifax, Edmonton, Kelowna would all be places that are cheaper than the normal ones. Also, remember that the smaller towns you go to are usually more cheaper. It just depends how much snow you want!

On the off chance anyone at Microsoft reads this, my Microsoft account got deleted by a bug in Live Domains and I haven't been able to successfully contact anyone to report it or fix it. The forums have been useless and now I can't do anything MS related without my account including my phone!

I would suggest Spider Oak, however, their support is not timely and there's currently a bug in the Windows 8 client that doesn't let it work. But if they get those issues sorted it could be a decent service.

This guy should be embarrassed. Why is he trying to copy Steve Jobs? I think down the road the Chinese will be stuck in a very hard place after decades of copying. Without innovation, it's hard to develop new ideas and technologies.

The Chinese desperately need a cultural revolution to understand that stealing is not an acceptable way to do business. Until that happens it will be hard for any Western company to take them seriously.

Normally, I would definitely be serious and more technical. However, the fact that Pincus is one of the biggest scammers out there and people still: 1) Believe him 2) Invest in his companies 3) Work for him, leads me to be a little sarcastic. It's hard in this day and age with information overload to see people still getting involved in pyramid schemes and wanting to buy snake oil.

It's unfortunate such an ethical CEO as Mark Pincus has to go through troubles such as this.

This is also a reminder that only very few companies caught up in the bubble have real business models that will last when the bubble pops.

Also, I saw it in 3D HFR and thought it looked amazing! Everything was so clear and I could see the pores on peoples faces and the battle scenes flowed much more smoothly. The only thing that bugged me was the glasses which wrapped the head too tightly.

This guys full of it. There's no way you can see the same movie and tell me you "connected" more when it was just 2D. If he wants to be a film purist he should say so, I'm fine with people preferring one format but I bet he'll be watching the film when it comes out on Blu-Ray and NOT his VHS...

I'm guessing you're either young or ignorant, so let me explain to you how it works with any Google product. I'll use Gmail as an example:

1) You sign up for Gmail

2) Google starts data mining all of your e-mail, scouring it for any type of keywords as well as using algorithms to determine your age, gender, sexuality, married, location, if you like Mac or PC, what mobile phone you have, what diseases you may have, etc... Remember this is on a HUGE scale and they can easily uniquely identify you using many methods.

3) Remember, that if you leave yourself logged in and then go to do a search on Google, they log that information too, they also log the information from you on YouTube or any other of their properties.

4) They now have all this information and they track you using cookies. So when you get to a site that uses Adwords or Double Click Google has a VERY good idea about what type of ads to place on that page to entice you to click on one of them.

5) Profit

Unfortunately, there's quite a large number of people out there who don't know what Google's doing. Just so you know the personal information IS paying the bills in a HUGE way. Google gets > 90% of all revenue from advertising. You seem to fall into that group. Please educate yourself and also try not to call people stupid as sometimes you MIGHT be wrong yourself.

Also, just so you know, the reason that Google is stopping EAS for personal Gmail accounts is to attempt to cripple the Windows Phone before it has a chance to take off. It's a shrewd business move and once again, it has nothing to do with economics.

I stopped using Google's products when I realized how much they tracked everyone. It's pretty weird not knowing what information they have about everyone and the fact that everyone is OK with that.

This is clearly a move to try to ensure that the Windows Phone market share doesn't grow. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out and if Microsoft can get people to switch to Outlook.com instead of Gmail.

While I'm for a disruptive force to the cab business, automobiles also should have some licensing when transporting other people as a service with the transaction of money. So I'm for Uber not being allowed in BC unless they license their drivers. The question is, can the existing industry improve without losing everything to entirely unregulated drivers who may have 5 previous hit and run convictions that no one knows about? There's going to be a large market for lawsuits involving companies like Uber and AirBNB that crowd source solutions.

This comment sounds like one of those BS ISP ads where they promote "Unlimited" serviece but it's not unlimited bandwidth only an "Unlimited" connection. Or how about the cell phone providers offering "Unlimited" data where there's a star at the end and it states that you'll be throttled after 5 GB.

You have to understand the layperson won't know anything about tables etc and stating "infinitely scale" is a HUGE selling point for potential customers. If they wanted to be truthful they wouldn't say that, or they would say we CAN provide infinite scaling IF the following conditions are met.

It depends, if they're starting a company then they should be setup separately from the start. You can't honestly tell me that you want Frank from the call center at your health provider getting a copy of your health records that you just sent in to his personal Gmail account?

If they're simply creating something to make some extra money then sure you could use the same account, but to be taken professionally you should keep them separate.

This is beside the point, as soon as it's in your personal e-mail account not only has privacy been breached but Google's data mining it.

Ok, so I'm sure you won't mind then if you send an e-mail to csr@myhealthprovider.com with your latest lab results and someone replies from their personal Gmail/Hotmail/Yahoo? More importantly, why would you have e-mails from multiple people in the different inbox's? If you're allowed to check your e-mail at work then keep your family/friends using your personal account and your business contacts using your work one.

Your comment about security is extremely disturbing. You're right people can intercept it, however, if I send an e-mail to someone at a company and they forward it to their personal account, that's the minute I stop doing business with that company.

I get the appeal of combining them, but it's sloppy and too many people take the easy way out instead of being professional.
