I think it got stale when Ive didn't have Jobs as a counterpart. Or vice versa. Once Cook & Ive didn't seem to have the same relationship, things stopped working. But I agree that Apple is doing quite well again with the M1-era Macs.

I think your comment on Jobs being Ives editor is spot on. They worked as a team and complemented each others shortcomings (at least to a degree). There was apparently never this kind of relationship between Cook and Ive.

But to say Apple kicked Ive out seems wrong to me. They rather wore him out and he left.

Just taking notes by hand seems to improve my memorization & understanding. (business context, not school for me) But going over my notes again in a timely fashion (<24 to 36 hours) seems to improve them a lot (sometimes just an additional explanation, highlighting, drawing a diagram). Structure helps when you need to go back and look for something.

Agreed. Midori paper is shockingly good. And it works so well with fountain pens. Definitely recommended.

I've learned that "old" is just a sliding scale. When I was in my teens, I considered 30 old. When I was in my 20s, I considered 40 old. And so on. Don't get too hung up on the exact number.

Also, there's a physical age and a mental age. One definition of old is, when these numbers don't match up anymore. And yes, by this definition some young people are old and vice versa - that's the idea!

Saying, "I'll do that when I'm older or when I retire" just means that you'll never do it.

Getting older usually means acquiring more experiences. It doesn't mean that everyone is equally good at it, typically a healthy dose of self-reflection helps.

And lastly, memories tend to fade, which is a blessing, pr sometimes a curse. But mostly it helps to blur things in the past. Which explains why older people tend to idealise how things used to be (they only remember the good parts). But it also helps people get over things.

It's a common scenario, unfortunately. Synology RAID is nice. External USB on the same power circuit is not a good idea. Actually, I'd look at least into a surge protector. But it's quite possible to have those blow up and still fry your hardware.

I'd run some batteries in the basement and run my Synology (or similar) off of those. Additionally, the USB Backup of backups should be in the garage or the attic, if at all possible. Also, a nice cloud-backup solution that is capable of delta-uploads is a very good idea (cover against fire in the house, or any other "catastrophic" failure).

If you work in IT, you well may be "worth the trouble", because you probably have more access than a "normal" user. First you try to compromise someone in the IT department, then someone in the C-Suite. Goes for social engineering as well.

Exactly. In Brazil, there are quite a few big buildings build with this methodology (long wells that cool the air). I can think of one hospital in the northeast, one big factory (printing business) near São Paulo, etc. It works exceptionally well, but as OP mentioned, glass exteriors are not a good idea.

In Switzerland it's hit and miss. New buildings usually have good air conditioning, but anything a bit older doesn't. And there are a lot of older buildings in Switzerland. It's a country that has 4 very pronounced seasons, so if there's a heatwave (like right now), it usually means hot offices... the productivity impact is quite significant.

It's actually the percentage of (+1) minus the percentage of (-1). 7-8's are literally not being counted (as you said 0's). Imagine if 990/1000 give 7 or 8. Out of the remaining 10, 7 give a 9 and 3 any number below 6. The count would be: 70%-30%=40 (which would be a good outcome). But only 1% of everyone that participated ended up determining the actual NPS Score.

Tried the pens and love em. Bought a few boxes full of pens, as we don't have a Muji close by and am still insanely happy with them more than a year later. The Pens are a joy to write with. And I'm picky as hell when it comes to pens :)

Well, it's politics. A lot of the big lenders were german banks. So it made sense for the german government to support more loans to Greece, because those were used to keep paying back german Banks. Grossly simplified, but that's what has been happening in the last years.

Could you explain with some details? I'd be quite interested in understanding what happened, and I imagine others would too.
