it's great to know that USB-C ports can just be replaced that easilly

Yes exactly! To me it's surely the biggest win. It's very easy to break them when the power chord is plugged in. I'm really pleased that we will now be able to fix them without having to change the whole motherboard (which surely very few people do because of expansive and how ridiculous it sounds)

There is a lot of choices in that area, but for me every time there was something I was unhappy with. So in the end I just wrote my own. It works exactly like I want, and it was a fun project to do anyway.

Next stuff I want to add in it, is the automatic translation of lyrics (maybe with the deepl api).

I really don't understand the hostility here. The digital euro seems like a good way to reduce the power of companies like visa and mastercard, and reduce the fees too. If the government is providing a way to pay freely in a digital way, why would I pay a company to do the same (or worse, see the last scandal between the card companies and steam)?

Does someone know if there's an increase in memory usage for Gnome or if it's about the same? I am wondering if I can update an old computer with only 4GB of memory.

Some people support this law, not because they think those pesticides are harmless, but because other EU country can still use these pesticides which give them an economic advantage. I don't understand while they are not instead asking for a European law to ban them. So every EU country would play with the same rules.

I don't know, but the parent's link article says:

"I spent 20 years in the Navy, most of it in the hot spots, like the engine rooms of ships—110 degrees is nothing on a ship," he says. That environment may have caused an increase in heat shock proteins, which were able to limit the spread of tau and prevent the onset of Alzheimer's. The scientists studying Whitney aren't sure if that's all, or even part, of the explanation. But they are hoping that the paper on Whitney will encourage other researchers to look for answers.

So instead of going to work for the navy, one could just go to the sauna daily.

Edit: turns out that it might be true: https://academic.oup.com/ageing/article/46/2/245/2654230?log...

I mean, how do people even decide whether a movie might be for them without having first inspected a good portion of it?

You can read review of journalists you usually agree with, ask for advice from your friends, check if you liked other movies from the same filmmaker, check if the movie has been displayed in your favorite movie theater or in the movie theater you dislike (but okay, won't work for netflix movies).

I'm also looking to move my domains out of gandi but stay with a european registrar. Did someone try netim customers' service? They say on their "about us" webpage that the company is still owned by the founders, so I would think the enshittification hasn't started yet. But if some have experiences to share it would be nice.

Can only recommend the iBuffalo SNES controller too, I have two of them and they are quite good. Didn't know the brand stopped making them, it's a pity.

Copy and paste was invented at Xerox PARC in the 1970s, and desktop Linux still hasn’t worked it out.

Not sure what you mean? In most app you can copy-paste with C-C C-V as on windows. Am I missing something?

But if you know you won't need to charge them simultaneously, then you can only carry one cable.

For instance, I'm happy that my new laptop can charge on usb-c, so now I don't need you bring a charger for my switch and a different one for my laptop. I just take the smallest one and charge my laptop and switch with it (but not at the same time). I'm happy to know that I will be able to ditch the lightning cable for my next apple smartphone and only keep a single cable for my three devices.
