What a treasure, I just remembered this was one of my first interaction with a commodore 64. Engineer friend of my father was trying (and succeeding) at triggering my 8yrs old curiosity. I was seriously impressed as he showed me the screen vs the sky. Looking at this with my adult eyes today, I am even more impressed at the render and tech behind that piece of software.

Had a “Perfect Sound” and audio master 3. Nothing beats that first burp recording & playback at different speeds when you are 12 :)

For those who are anti-cloud or want a 2-tier system for any good reasons, Been using this with several wyzecam V2 cameras for 2 years with no issues other than the cameras not being low light sensitive like the V3, otherwise the setup is pretty solid and fast.

Still got mine here in a box with my SB live 5.1. That thing was a blast to mess around with as a kid, but not really practical for anything semi-pro compared to just pluging a midi keyboard due to the limited number of keys. Had a Yamaha PSS (451?) which was a tad better but the key size being smaller than a regular piano was also an issue. Couldn’t get rid of that keyboard tho, its epic :)

too bad the first and best capture option costs several hundred of dollars otherwise this would be epic. Now its just awesome ;)

Looked at it a few years ago, the gate stuff was meh, bought a good old projector off ebay, added a 95 CRI led instead of the bulb and replaced the motor with a stepper to accurately control film advance and used a modified canon with magic lantern firmware to do the capture with silent shutter to not kill the camera or use beyond video resolution (which is overkill, i know, but I wanted both hdr and wdr so multi shots). Fun little project if you have the image processing knowledge. Else, the lazy best bang for the buck deal is getting a wolverine film digitizer, too bad the firmware isn’t open tho.

Had the same feeling after toying with google earth for 30 mins in VR, jumping cities and what not, after that time, I began to zoom out, out and out... looked around, and its really hard to put in words, but WS puts it extremely well.

2 years to get a PiStorm amiga accelerator at a decent price (https://github.com/captain-amygdala/pistorm) due to chip shortage.

Finally managed to get 3 PiStorm boards (for a more decent price than the scams off ebay), but I have only one Pi 3B, and the 3A+ or Zero 2 are nowhere to be found

Only option is to buy 3B/B+ which are a little more common, at 3x+ the price, and unsolder the usb connector.

Sure feels like back in the amiga days when I was waiting for the Emplant to emulate a PC and whatnot... or waiting for Gateway, Escom, etc... to do something useful...

Come to think of it, it's a perfect retro experience WITH post-1994 frustrations of waiting with constant hopes and failures as a bonus :)

Mid-end 80s. Started with a western digital 300 bauds on my c64. I remember i could boost it to 350bps before it would start garbling. Good times.

Still remember FS 1.0 on an IBM PCjr with cheezy sounds and pseudo vector graphics, yet it was amazing. I’m grateful (and still amazed) seeing this level of tech today through my inner-kid’s eyes of back then.

One can only wonder how it will be in the next decades.

Hard to NOT at least consider we are living in a simulation too ;).

Still got mine (900) running a low power linux and swapped the dead slow ssd to a 64gb somewat still slow drive. Not much use other than carrying on trips so if it gets stolen I wont care… its a shame to see so much good computers are thrown out while still perfectly working.

When I saw my first (300Baud) modem at my dad's friend, and he had a 1200 so gave me his 300 and some software for my commodore 64 to poke around, this completely changed my life from a bored small kid with way too old and religious parents + boring family activities nowhere near adequate to a fully stimulating learning journey into telecom and BBS.

Then he showed his amiga, I'll never forget my first time ;) That drove me in media and tech for a good part of my life.

If those were imported massively in usa or canada [and take a chunk off the 2k shipping and other extra fees that could be averaged down], they would sell tons even if not street legal, awesome base for hacking or small vehicle for small farms or woodlands.
