reputation and community trust sometimes counts for something? i get it but i also know that if the nerds find out no one would use Signal...

I understand the use cases for certain Linux distribution spinoffs that can eliminate complexity but it also breaks my heart when they use an ultra customizable distribution like Arch Linux.

Typically, I will [1] customize my own installation media to do or contain whatever software or configurations I need without a third-party making assumptions for me. This is quite possibly what I like most about Arch Linux. I know what is going on under the hood because I set it up. I'm likely not a typical user for most spinoffs. I use Arch Linux, FreeBSD, Gentoo, RHEL, Debian, SLES, and Ubuntu for different use cases as required.

I love the Mossberg 500 as well. I also prefer the location of the safety on the 500 (tang)

I even think the more "expensive" 870 models are very reasonably priced for everything you get...

Hard to go wrong with a classic like the 870 though... only a few good options at that price point that are easy to find.

If you were given access to a list of all the porn content you've viewed along with the associated metadata neatly categorized and documented it might change your outlook on the issue. It's not just about the subject matter, it's about what conclusions can be correctly or incorrectly drawn from the data. Metadata such as date and time, location, etc. would be of interest. I know a lot of folks who are technical (and non-technical) and it was a big enough struggle to get them using Signal. I definitely see the advantages of Wire and not being tied to a phone number but I just don't know anyone using it. It's odd because some of those folks are using Keybase chat though... they just bulk at installing yet another messaging app (regardless of features).

Many custom ROM's are/were based on the CyanogenMod source code. Without CyanogenMod/lineageos, custom ROM chef's would need to rely exclusively on AOSP [1] source code instead.

Certain custom ROM's such as ParanoidAndroid [2] used AOSP as a base prior to CyanogenMod getting shutdown so these ROM's would not be impacted.

The nice thing about CyanogenMod was the wide variety of devices they supported. This meant you could get a newer version of Android/CM on what would have been an otherwise unsupported device by the OEM/Wireless Carrier. CyanogenMod was generally the model project for other third-party custom ROM's.
