Its true that it's not the idea but the execution that matters for any startup. However in this case, snapchats virality was in the idea(even if it has been done before). The execution side, vs photo apps like Instagram, was simpler and less complicated. Moreover, he was involved in the initial development of the app. He deserved better.

I remember my first time watching the sky in pitch darkness! It was in death valley and the picture is so vivid in my memory. I was amazed, shocked and delighted all at the same time to see so many stars in the sky! It's a view I miss to this day.

Frankly I don't mind surveillance and spying when used for preventing terrorism or act of violence the same way as I don't mind when at international airports most of the time I find myself directed to the double security checks. But when its so apparent that the data is being used to target citizens in general and not fight crime it appalling! How do citizens stop a government from exploitation and damage?

It doesn't surprise me, many founders get carried away with the tide of funding money and associating with VC's that they loose track of their hold and control over a company that they built. Doing that at times you get hit by "Too much is too less" reality.
