Patreon requires you to "submit your account for deletion" to close your account.

Starting July 2020, Patreon no longer offers the previous “disable” feature. To close a Patreon account, users must submit their account for deletion through our Privacy center.

A couple of those could be considered "inspired by" if you (a) squint and (b) ignore all the examples that are clearly the same ;)

I played the duke nukem 1 & 2 shareware _back in the day_ but I missed out on Turrican thanks for sending me down this rabbit hole.

I discovered cron looking for a way to manage my "two DayJob calendars with 85% duplicate events but 15% unique events".

Specifically since I was annoyed at getting 2 notifications for every event that was duplicated on both calendars.

And cron actually solved that problem by automagically recognizing duplicate events and only notifying once. I turned off all notifications in calendar.app.

The only other differentiating feature I am aware of is how configurable the menu bar app is.

Thankfully, I no longer have the original problem + I don't like things in my menu bar so I'm probably switching back to the built in app.

Never used gittyup but last time I tried the github desktop app was years behind gittower in terms of functionality & features provided.

If you’re earning money developing software but refuse to pay for tools, in my personal and not at all humble opinion, you’re part of The Problem.

This looks neat, but I don’t see anything off hand that will pull me away from my current git tower + kaleidoscope ~rut~ workflow.

In particular, the drag & drop rebase support in tower is very convenient. Kaleidoscope is capable of all kinds of diffing but the text conflict resolution is probably the feature that I use the most.

Yeah, giving out my banking authentication info is a hard nope for me & I discourage everyone I know from using or implementing anything using plaid.

I worry that will just encourage this practice since "it worked, we got feedback"?

Same. As soon as I made my profile private github.com started 500ing for me. It seems like none of the other pages I've hit are affected.

Edit: Spoke a little soon, my profile page is also 500 when logged out.

more likely a long slow decline with several factors

off hand, a few factors I can think of are

- a few users lost here and there due to “bad decisions” (as perceived by exiting customers) - super saturated paid streaming market - more people at home = more users but != more paying customers

—-

I think the biggest risk they face now is thinking that 100% of account sharing would be paying customers if they somehow eliminate sharing. That kind of thinking tends to lead to decisions that also push currently paying customers away AND makes new/returning customers think twice.

Just my opinion. Full disclosure: I’m in the “no longer a paying customer, not account sharing, and probably won’t be using netflix in the near future” camp.
