The lack of diversity in economics becomes self-reinforcing when potential students don’t see themselves represented in the profession.

If you don't see anyone who looks like you in the profession, it could be difficult to imagine yourself in the domain.

In other words, diversity creates problems that otherwise wouldn't exist.

This all just seems like subways from first principles but probably worse.
