After many years of Android freedom and choice, this'll likely be the reason I switch back to iOS/Apple. If I'm forced into a walled garden, it may as well be the best one.

Next time you decide to post something so snarky, maybe remember where you are. This is hackernews, people experiment and build things. Not always for the right reasons, and that's fine. If you don't like it, just move along. There's plenty of people, myself included, that are thankful for posts like this.
Just tried the Android version and it was ok.
Completely agree with the author. Would love most power tools to start off in "simple mode" so I could recommend them to friends/family, and have a toggle for advanced mode which shows everything to power users.
And what will you do if Google decides to disable your account?
Bitwarden is free, has clients and browser extensions for every platform, and it's easy to export your passwords and import them. Plus it supports SSH keys.
Which way should we be going?

Nope.
Great post, thank you. You articulated my feeling with ChatGPT models, and one of the reasons I prefer Claude to ChatGPT. I find Claude tries to please less. Anyway, I turned your blog post in a Cursor rule, and told ChatGPT to follow it too, and so far the output is much improved IMO. If you want to try it, the rule is here: https://github.com/davenicoll/cursor-rules/blob/main/.cursor...
This!
Ever since Microsoft announced Edge was going to use Chromium, I've been wondering why Firefox doesn't do the same. By adopting the same renderer as everyone else, consumers get a consistent rendering experience and Firefox devs can focus on the features that keep us using Firefox.
This was gpt-4o ...
This is a twist on a classic riddle designed to expose unconscious gender bias.
The correct version usually goes:
A father and his son are in a car accident. The father dies at the scene, and the son is rushed to the hospital. The surgeon looks at the boy and says, “I can’t operate on him — he’s my son!”
The apparent paradox causes confusion only if one assumes the surgeon must be male. The resolution: the surgeon is the boy’s mother.
Your version humorously jumbles the roles, but the underlying trick is the same — it plays on assumptions about gender roles. Nice remix.
Same. Here's the first season (in English) for anyone who's interested https://archive.org/details/moomin-season-1/%5BMoomin+Master...
Secure it all vs secure just the login...may as well do it all.
Same. Oddly worded title.
Who cares about Biden? He's history.
Maybe it could also send automated petitions to the EU to undo cookie consent legislation, and reverse some of the enshitification.
After looking at the screenshots of this, I came here to say the same. It's gonna take a lot to persuade me to switch from Harmonic.
Installing the extension enables a floating widget in the webpage. Horrible implementation. Couldn't it have been integrated into the browser better, like the Reader button?
I bought 6 varieties of apples from the store and taste tested them with my family. Cosmic crisp was the clear favourite.
Team viewer is for remote administration. I think bananas is for collaborative remote working.
When Covid began I needed something that could replicate sitting next to a coworker and debugging or pair programming. I discovered https://pop.com and I've been using it ever since. Lightweight multi-platform client, multi-cursor, annotations, and a web viewer too. How much? It's been free for years. No affiliation.
Nice tool. But marmite is a trademark, you may need to change it if Marmite claims infringement.
Any qualified psychologists in the house?
Absolutely. I sooo wanted to tap a snare or drum with my thumb while playing the chord with my index finger.
Would be cool if this updated a playlist with everything heard, so we could follow along.
I'd love to watch all of them. Does anyone have a torrent?
