Yea was debating between that and the DevOps cert from AWS. Choose DevOps because it covers some of the same concepts and more. Also just passed the AWS Developer Associate, so warmed up. Using Tutorial Dojo… Highly recommended! CKAD course on Udemy looks good too and have heard good things from friends. Good luck on your journey!

After being self thought how to code through books and hands on projects, I have discovered an even better way to learn and get credentials in that field at the same time and that is through certifications. For example AWS Devops cert, the GCP equivalent and CNF Kubernetes cert.

I live in this neighborhood and the Waymo cars drive into the early morning and are becoming as common as Priuses. The street in question leads to The Presidio, which is federal park, has been closed to cars during the pandemic, and probably whats confusing the Waymo cars.

10,000 years is not a large amount time for the Milky Way, but a very long time for a civilization. In that amount of time, humanity could find its self in another dark ages. Would they still be in contact with the people who colonized another star after that amount of time, even if society collapsed into a dark age? If the two groups were no longer in contact, would they still be considered the same civilization? Also isn’t the galactic core a very dangerous place for leaving things because of density of stars and frequent solar flares? From what I know, life is more likely to survive in the galactic arms, where there is less density of stars and thus less solar flares to wipe out all living things.

Interested in working with Elixir full time FTW!

I have wondered this too. I think it is still relevant, but very niche. Many companies are using Elixir and striving against their competitors, see Mux. IMO the reason libraries aren’t updated often is because Elixir is a completed language with no breaking updates planned [0], so libraries can be created and not need constant breaking updates. Also, you can do many things without using libraries because of Elixir’s and Erlang’s standard libraries and features. As an Elixir developer, I never go to Awesome Elixir to search for libraries. Its recommended to first look at Elixir docs, Erlang docs, Hex package manager or if still no solution found or have questions go to the Elixir Forum or Stackoverflow.

After building my site in multiple stacks, I’ve come back to WordPress because my portfolio site is also my self marketing site and WordPress is the best for marketing IMO. You get blog post, pages, menus and contact forms. Add advanced custom fields and custom post types and WPGraphQL and some Next.js and you got yourself a JAMStack with complete “no-code” backend.

I have come to a similar conclusion through the phrase “luck is opportunity meets preparation”.
