So many "things" where its "we're the good guys club and if you're not in our club you're the bad guy".
Age verification is a great example. We've seen what Alec Muffett has been doing around this and its telling that the EFF is doing basically nothing.
When they supported the legislation called "Net Neutrality" which attempted to supplant the concept of actual net neutrality with some quasi government control of the internet. It would've enabled massive censorship on the internet, something that we've seen is a very very bad thing.

It was over for me when the EFF advanced the charge of government censorship of the internet. The EFF had previously been a client of mine so I was somewhat familiar with how things worked and basically once Gilmore was out, it went downhill.
They did a lot of good work (much like the ACLU) but they are now honestly unrecognizable.
My old company donated around $3k/mo of services for almost a decade which in the grand scheme of things isn't a lot but we kept them online when other ISPs would've shut them off.
I've ceased donating to them and the ACLU because they no longer stand for freedom on or off the internet. My money now goes to groups that actively pursue the government for violating our constitutional rights.
Its worth it to practice people skills. Maybe try signing up for public speaking classes or some other form of story telling?

The article comes off as mostly clickbait TBH. I live in San Francisco, our school system here stinks.
I'd say about 25% of the teachers at my kid's school are incompetent so that kinda lines up with 1:4 saying "technology bad". It took the pandemic for the school system to come 20 years into the future technology wise and they're still at least 15 years behind.
I honestly wouldn't trust a teacher to tell me what the future should be or if something is good or bad...

It has 3kwh and the stove costs $6k + installation. Based on their specs thats less than an hour.
Gas stovetop costs $400 and just works.

It'd cost me $20k to install an induction stove, not buying it.
I lose power in SF 3-4 times a year, have never lost gas. Last power outage I cooked with gas and it was great. I have gas heat too, always works.

My TLDR; 20+ years of experience in operations and scalability. I'm great with managing large scale buildouts either on-prem or in the cloud. On the management side I'm best when managing 1-15 people, as an IC I am self directing and am fine with any size team. I've been doing consulting for a while but I'm looking to join up with a team that has 1-5 engineers ideally but I'd be fine with a larger org if I think the product is cool. Biden's newly millitarized IRS is going to be interesting TBH. I predict that we're going to see a lot of previously untaxed "almost poor" people start to pay taxes.
The article is good but it does sound like this guy had some witholdings (aka paid taxes) and has skirted consequences by lying to the IRS. Probably not a great idea but if you didn't make a lot of money its unlikely the IRS would've gone after you anyways.
Most older houses have/had large garages however some houses had garage spaces converted into living space.
Be that as it may, a society that allows individuals to claim public land for private use without any compensation or penalty also seems outrageous.
SF is rife with that and the SF Coalition on Homelessness makes its money on that premise.
SF needs to be ticketing sidewalk parkers while INCREASING the availability of parking in business districts. Right now what we have is just anti-car tyranny.
You must not get out much, I see it (feces) every day. Harvey Milk ran on a platform of cleaning up the poop, it was just dog poo at that point, but its a big problem here.
If we eliminated the street-poopers SF would be a much much better place.
It has zero to do with that; A bulk of SF was built when cars were enormous. The people parking ON the sidewalk do it because they either don't care, already have a car in their garage or street parking is taken up by people who have 12 people living in their house with 16 cars on the street.
