Count me as anecdotal evidence in the 35+ bucket of those who went from full remote to hybrid and highly prefers hybrid (after a decade of full remote).

Having a thriving office has been a breath of fresh air for when I want to see people. The key is it being optional and up to employees to decide what's best for them.

plenty of us are married with kids, weird extrapolation. you spent more time debating this on hn than you could've spent on our challenge. i'll chalk it up as bad prioritization :)

he talked about starting mondays and ending fridays, but the analysis is counting weekends. strip those away and the numbers are way off. he also talked about doing a weekly review for each book, not something you can keep up if reading one of the books takes you over a month (21d per op, over weekdays)

As someone who got involved in an open-source version of the Ultima Online server, this is a fun read

Instead of `areaserv` like the article talks about, RunUO had the concept of sectors within a region[1]. Sidenote: To this day RunUO is one of the easiest codebases to understand i've ever come across

We too had a pretty bad item duping bug, around how banks allowed you to create checks with money, and an overflow bug leading to people being trivially able to print money — this led to runway inflation in some servers.

highly recommend Mastering Regular Expressions

it optimizes for not thinking about loading states, and the way it's normally used (hook fetches data, suspends) results in you having to go out of your way to add a loading state near the component that suspended, as you have to create an intermediate component and a loading component, splitting what should be a single concern into several, and it results in a lot of duplication that previously could be addressed by just having an `isLoading` prop

not thinking about loading states hurts ux and perceived performance

edit to clarify: i like hooks (though people abuse them) and believe react has generally always been best-in-class at thoughtful interface design. suspense breaks with that imo

And suspense is the worst thing to happen to React
