Correct answer, never think about the future in terms of linear extrapolations. It's a non-linear differential equation with lots of variables and expect complex feedback loops. Systems react to change.

Indeed and it's a really impressive technology. However, there is the cooling involved and a lot of effort goes into sampling "the real deal" without changes of the structure due to the imaging process. In single molecule shots the idea is to form tiny droplets with the natural protein inside and sample them at room temperature. Naturally sample preparation here comes with its own challenges.
Filming is one really interesting application, the other is imaging of single proteins without the need for crystallisation. I wrote a whole PhD thesis about the idea how to reconstruct the three-dimensional electron density from a lot of extremely noisy single proteins shots. It will make a huge class of proteins experimentally accessible that we couldn't structurally look into before.

We currently develop solutions in this area and I believe that isolated OCR is not the solution to go. Things are moving rapidly towards end-to-end processing of documents with huge transformer models and I also believe that multi-modal GPT models will quickly win all usecases. The basic idea is that in the end, all matter is in black holes, the rest is radiation. You need matter in order to define space, so if there is no matter, space or rather the original space doesn't exist anymore. You can contract all the radiation (that doesn't have a notion of space due to the lack of matter) into a new point and start something like a big bang.
I think of it as redefining the space that makes the universe, rescaling the size of the whole universe. Anyway, that's my personal take on this so far.

Well, given that the world wide web was developed at CERN and they have driven a lot of big-data topics in the past I would say that the collateral developments are non-negligible. In the software field, CERN and particle physics in general, have driven quite some open source projects (both scientific and general ones).
I had the privilege to ocasionally work with Holger Stark on similar structure determination challanges and can confirm that they really pushed the limits here thanks to very smart statistical methods. The resolution heavily depends on correctly sorting/classifying the large amount (> 10k for sure) images of these small particles.
There exists a race in the structural biology community about the next big method that allows to determine structures of proteins that were hard to crystalize and it seems that CryoEM is becoming the winner in this race.
As an alternative approach, people are building large X-ray lasers that have extremly high intensity and short pulse lengths which they plan to shoot at single particles and resolve individual scattering images. This method can very likely also achieve atomic resolution of non-crystaline particles, even without the need to freeze them down.
It will be exciting times for the whole bio-chemical physics community. Congrats to Holger and the team for another great publication in Nature.

Same here, I worked in a computational biophysics department with lots of python/bash/R and I was the only one who wrote lots of high-performance code in Julia. People were curious about the language but it was still very much unknown. Hope we will see a broader adoption of Julia in the future - it's just that much better for the stuff we do on a daily basis.

Another convenient feature I use is to schedule reminders via the Google Voice Assistant (e.g. remind me to buy toilet paper tomorrow morning) and it popped up in the Inbox. Nowadays, I manage those reminders via the Google calender - all pending reminders are merged into one entry at the current day - it's not very convenient and I hope so much GMail will add this feature soon.

1. From a sane point of view, this argument makes sense but the UAE don't have a money problem and prestige/aura of modern technology is weighted much heavier than economical reasoning. It would be a huge attraction and a big reputation boost - they could again argue that UAE is where the future is built, not the USA.
2. It is hot down there but from what I have experienced, the thermal swings are lower than on a normal Central European or American day. This means in October 35 C during the day, 30 C at night.
I have used both in the science context and found Julia much better suited for mathematical problems. Matrix/vector support built into the language is a huge advantage. On top, running code in parallel environments is better supported by Julia (Macros, scheduling, etc...). On top of it, Julia has an excellent Python interface which makes it possible to also use this huge ecosystem of libraries. Makes it easy to use matplotlib out of the box.
Monkey Island 1/2 still remain one of the most influential games for myself. I triggered my strong interest in game programming and later programming in general. All I wanted in the 90s was to come up with programs that showed sprites moving around. Later I progressed to different fields of programming but I guess a part of me still dreams of programming an equivalent game like Monkey Island some day (2D of course!!!)
It´s available here in Germany and I feared that fees would apply for every transaction but learning from the FAQ, when transferring money between friends/family this is actually free. Given, that in Germany, transactions between banks are free too, the whole cycle of shifting money should be also free for Paypal (omitting costs for running the service of course). I am looking forward to trying it out, it might be much nicer than giving someone the IBAN and letting him handle the transaction via the bank.

In your screenshot of the "Airport Parking Shop" in the Browser, besides the developer tools, the app itself is wrapped in a GUI that I have not seen before. First I thought it was an ionic served GUI but I couldn't find it when trying out the Tab App example. Could you elaborate more on which tools you used for testing in the browser?
The idea to break the diffraction limit by using the this doughnut-shaped excitation spot comes from the STED microscopy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STED_microscopy) developed by Stefan Hell (Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Goettingen, Germany). He actually showed that an additional intensity-dependent term can be added to Abbe's diffraction limit allowing sub 100um resolution with light. I think this idea is awesome and it sure won't be the last invention made possible by this trick.
