ASUS RT-N66U is nice, didn't have a need for AC. I have that and an older Netgear WNR3500l (v1) running upstairs and down same SSID different channels. Tomato is my firmware of choice although ASUS with Merlin is pretty solid.

There were some pretty good router deal on Black Friday, be on the lookout for the ASUS on Cyber Monday I'd say.

Yep, not saying it was a secret... Tim O'Reilly had it nailed back then... but the story I have to remind myself of is that too many times we go off face value rather than digging in and listening to people like Tim... This happens all over the place and it was worth capturing the story that replays in my head each time I see a new revision of it.

I hear the control part but what control is there really... Don't you think the physical files on the laptop of the average corporate worker are more likely to be compromised than dropbox itself?

Not sure companies will survive and be competent if it all goes this way...

Do we need FDIC (from the banking world) for data?

Saw Jason live at DLD talking about "the pivot" it seemed like a genuine change backed up by some very quality video snippets from the new site... much different than his internet persona I had read about in the past. He even apologized to the crowd for "talking too much" when he was younger. A new leaf for sure.

From the site:

"BBYIDX is a free and open source idea-gathering application written in Ruby and distributed under the GNU Affero General Public License. It's the basis of the Best Buy IdeaX website and was created by and supported by Best Buy Enterprise Services Inc and Bust Out Solutions, Inc. The standard release is known as BBYIDX and features the ability for users to simply post, tag, comment and vote on ideas. It also features the ability for administrators to moderate incoming ideas and comments as well as assign work-flow to certain ideas for further exploration. It also offers the ability to group ideas by "current" or category to create new "currents" which serve as problems or issues to be solved by comments and moderation. It also features read and write APIs that can be used to make access to an instance of BBYIDX via another website or mobile application."

I work for Best Buy and I believe some of that's been tried probably not to the degree to make it comfortable enough...

My thought after reading this was how do we enable his Dad to sell a new one out store stock (maybe via mobile device) and get some sort of affiliate pay thus decentralizing the whole concept... seems very possible by APIs Best Buy can create only a need to make it easier to use in any living room by anyone.
