Out of the dozens and dozens of youtube gambling creators/streamers I find myself tuning into this one everyday as well as other very specific creators in travel, tech, etc. What is it that makes these stick to us? I really can't find a thread that ties my ten or so daily watches and my twenty or so weekly streamers together. What draws you in for the long term? Can these creators survive or are tey a flash in the pan?

GITS is amazing as a design universe. The more you dig into the manga or movies (even the SACs) the deeper you get sucked in to what could be. From the vision of mind interfaces to the dream of mind across the net. It was WAY ahead of it's time and still stands up today.

Every crevasse of the original Manga contains deep thought out design on what digital life could become. What constructs we become once we crossed that digital/biological line.

Watching the SpaceX launches on the SpaceFlightNow youtube channel is an amazing thing. The amount of money people pledge for memberships/tips during each launch always amazes me.

If a hack organization like SFN (great ppl, but the hosts act like children) can make $$$$ by ripping half the NASA/SpaceX feeds, then NASA is deserving.

(Yes I am aware that SFN has it's own hardware and staff expenses. I have a ton of respect for them and what they continue to do)

Amen to that. 70s tech that just worked. I've got boxes of X10 switches, motion sensors, and modules that I don't use anymore because Home Assistant doesn't support it well. I miss it.

It was simple, with some small issues.

If you wanted to kick it up a notch you could run a Mister House server connecting to the powerline through a $15 Radio Shack module.

He doesn't know how to use the three seashells.

Implementing these library/frameworks are just a small piece of the application. You implement strict development policies and standards that these frameworks wrap around, fit within the architecture. Too many devs rely on the framework to be the architecture.

A SPA is a piece of an overall architecture and these frameworks are still just a piece of the overall architecture.

Almost all of these frameworks can/will assist in strict standardization. Bootstrap is a good example. BS with a well designed style guide is a blessing, without it's the wild west. Angular, React, Vue are all very useful (back button included) if thought out and as part of an architecture.

In the end, they get you much further along with support, than a team could do with vanilla.

It's become the glue for so many non-connected and re-connected devices.

$4usd esp8266 adds WiFi to anything. $8 esp32 adds BT and WiFi to anything.

OR reuse/take over any of thousand of existing devices that already use ESPs. IOT Light bulbs, wall switches, air quality devices... It's amazing how many new devices/sensors get added to each version.

My favorite project is adding wifi and temp/humid sensing to the IKEA $10 air sensor. We have them in every room.

I love most everything about this. My first experience with perl was in the mid 90s and it was all headache. 6 months later I was a total believer. For almost 40 years Perl on my resume has gotten me places!! (Haven't used it in the workplace for almost as long) Perl (5) is raw but powerful. Understanding it gets you really far. Is it right, no, but it makes you better.

I have used MH since early 2000s and still use it today to fill in some gaps that Home Assistant still has.

The same motion sensor code I wrote in 2005 is in use today. Originally on a spare server but now on a rasp pi.

It's log design and memory leak checker keep it going. Super software design at it's core!!!
