The more I think the more bizzare it was. The reason being, we know each other by synthetic names in a forum (and let me just say anonymity was expected from both of us). So the only way I can think of is somehow the synthetic string/name matched on both of our data somehow like you are describing.

I thought about all the possibilities listed and simply cannot find any of the potentials. It just seems bizarre! I cannot think of any common way FB could've connected us, other than pics.

My experience w/ SO has been mixed. Some of the moderators act like quality police and shut down genuine, but potentially basic questions. Yes, amazingly some of the answers are so deep! So mixed opinion for me.

I have a feeling, you have not seen death from close quarters. Once you have seen it up close, you kinda of get used to it. Also it is little unusual to think so much about death at such an young age and these may be signs of spiritual inclinations. And you could consider surfing few books (Buddhism, Zen Koans etc).

I agree whole heartedly. I too often find those claims pretentious. Small percentage of startups actually do it, while vast majority of them just want to make $s and make their life better. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, except their claims. The random guy contributing 100$ to Nepal relief fund ends up more genuine.

@pyrocat - You are making assumptions here that there was any quid pro quo involved. She was already rejected for the job. And then she was asked on a date. What was unethical and unprofessional was that he did it while being in a position of an interviewer.

#DanBC: Even those with other viewpoints, are not defending his behaviour. It is more to do with what next ? This is not a case of harassment as far as I can tell - but unethical and unprofessional behaviour and needs to be condoned for sure. But stretching it to a borderline harassment case is what needs to be avoided (atleast not until full facts are known).

I tend to agree with you. My viewpoint is I am assuming this is a one time thing and there was/is no precedence. But this can only be confirmed by talking to HR. So yes, she needs to talk to HR.

After some thought, I agree HR should be involved to caution him. As for ruining his life, it feels like a stretch - but imagine, he is publicly outed (with this much attention, it's possible). People have their pitchforks out - so I know this viewpoint will be downvoted. But it is best if she brings this issue with HR and deal with it internally with the company.

I will go out on my limb here. It was a mistake on his part. See if you are willing to let him go with a caution. I know everyone is crying for blood and it is justified. Going to HR will likely ruin his resume for life (possibly).

Full stack = Frontend + Backend Frontend = Think Consumer. He's the one that uses the backend, typically via browser. In the browser world, you have HTML + CSS + Javascript (add stuff like MVC framework, JS library etc). All these interact with backend to query or persist data on the backend Backend - Think producer. Typically these are your servers. Bunch of those actually. You will have servers to simple serve the HTML/CSS and other assets as well as database to persist data. They can be built on a language of your choice - but these days Javascript since you can write both frontend and backend in the same language.

I think the simplest way to think fullstack is to think of an end-to-end experience and list all the components.
