If someone was jealous of another, for example, that person could just write false slander and claim it was real with no evidence. How the heck does a US president have military powers so powerful and broad? If congress can only declare war, it doesn't make sense to me that the president can put the entire country at risk of war by directly bombing another country. Like then at that point, congress has to approve right..? Because the damage is already done. It's a big slap on the face at the global stage, with no room for political face-saving. The damage being already done to both global reputation and national sovereignty. There's no going back.

If another country bombed the US, and then their system of government was like, "oh well it isn't technically war cause it was just our single head honcho making his own decision. But good news, our second government entity officially declared not going to war with you, kthxbye srry lol", that logic isn't going to fly in the US. Yea, try everything you can think of and good luck! But my 2cents is to do these things while having a job. You'll have positive cash flow for financial security and if things don't work out then you'll at least still be able to afford to go out with friends, travel, etc. Just find a dev job that doesn't demand too much (or if it does, push back regularly or increase scrum estimation), and work on your side projects after work. I was in your position once, never made it, don't think the sacrifice was worth it, so I really recommend this.

Most author's don't even make money from their books. Publishers take a massive chunk out of any profits they make, leaving them with barely anything.

So even if you buy the book, the author isn't really getting that much, they're probably still starving. The truth is it's the publishers that's not getting paid, and that's why all these lawsuits are happening. The political power one needs to even get someone extradited alone implies it's not just random authors banding together to sue, it's powerful rich publishers, someone with political connections. And prosecutors are going all out it seems, piling on BS charges of money laundering??

The thing is, unless you are indispensable to the company, they're possibly gonna axe you without a second thought. Your gut feeling is telling you there's a good chance of that. They company isn't going to care about your baby, it cares only about money. Even on the more personal level, your direct boss doesn't give a damn about you it seems, so don't count on human empathy to give you any leeway here.

The reality is you can't do much. It's not up to you whether you can save your position, if the company is planning to axe you then it's gonna do it without any regard to what you think is fair. So just keep that in mind, and plan your current situation to your advantage:

First I would check to see if they pay out PTO. Some PTO like floating holidays or personal days may not get paid out (read your contract). Optimize on taking that PTO first, immediately. Since you have a baby, take your parental leave soon. Even if they lay you off, you can get severance and also be able to apply for unemployment benefits to cover some costs of your newborn and support your family while you're not working. Do not just quit yourself, because then the company wins: they get to skip out on severance, and you can't apply for unemployment.

Then after your parental leave is over, see if there's sick days you can use. Sometimes it's use-it-or-lose it, so you can use that time to find a new job if you don't like your current one. You don't have to take this all at once, just disperse it here and there to lighten your workload so you can have time to practice those leetcodes and whatever for your interviews.

Whatever you do, just remember you have to look out for yourself and your family first, and congrats on the baby!

You have a state-level actor with state-level infinite money pouring into political groups creating societal havoc at the structural level. A regular joe can't do this kind of damage. Only people with serious money can.

The only other way things change structurally is through solidarity. Everyone protests in the streets. Cop reforms didn't come about because people asked nicely. People died and got mad.

They for sure donate to make-a-wish foundations or whatever, which is great. But think of it this way: how does that help you or your kids when cost-prohibitive life-saving surgery is needed? Right, that's on the individual level. You and I can donate to a medical organization that helps people 'see and hear' too. Or fund a go-fund-me to help that person. It's great that person got immediate access to the healthcare they needed with this money. We can do basically what Mr Beast does right now if we pooled our resources together.

The bigger issue is why that healthcare is inaccessible to them in the first place? How do you or I go about solving this? How are you and I gonna bring this attention to Congress, and get their asses to work on that issue? Unless we both quit our careers to go into politics, it's not really possible for a random no-name person to make that change for the greater population. How about the other 10k people who can't see or hear? What about them?

If I had Mr Beast's financial or influence level, the next step I would be doing is wondering why those 1k or 2k people didn't get their healthcare and then trying to patch that. We all know how much of a scam our current system is. Once that's patched, everyone gets to eat for life, not just a single batch of 1k people in my lifetime.

Individual contributions are great and welcomed, but temporary. Societal change is where things get real. Cmon bro. It's why we have 40 hour work weeks, why women can vote and get college education, why lgbt community is accepted. And it's not like individual contributions and making society change are mutually exclusive... So what' stopping Mr Beast from going to that next step?

I think what OP is saying is that at Mr Beast's income level, he can effectively create a lasting change that most of us can't. Instead he focuses on people individually, giving them nice gestures but nothing life-changing, and he continues to do this because his viewers demand these types of low-scale altruism. So effectively he's just an entertainer that earns his salary by doing small acts of kindness, nothing more.

It's like the old proverb in a way: "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. But teach him to fish, and you feed him for life". Mr Beast is just giving people fish for a day, but it doesn't help anyone after that one chance encounter with him.
