This is what I want. That people find their SO on a natural and unexpected way and not by sticking to their roots and setting the right filter in their dating app. Do you think Americans would be Americans today if hundreds years ago all the immigrants stayed with their groups? And again I use religion and ethnicity here equally since most of these platform do this implicitely too.

A society can only evolve and develop in a healthy way if groups mix. There are already so many barriers which hinder us to interact with others. Just say no to rules from the last century.

Once you start to work on an even mediocre side project, just wait and after few days you get so many new ideas coming out of the mediocre project.

Yes and if not there is a Slack-compatible API, check Discord's API doc.

Just try Discord, takes one minute and will know yourself if you like it. It's not a behemoth like Slack.

Everything with Discord feels like a super mature well develoved product.

Onboarding is a millions times easier.

With Slack you need for every chat a new login/password and 100 clicks for sign-up, skip tutorial and email-verification, WTH why? Getting users into Discord is one single click. With Discord you have one login and you can have different names per server.

And Slacks admin pages are just a confusing pile of mess, my .vimrc is light-weight compared. Slack is so overrated and people just use it because everybody does.

Discord has never been sluggish for me.

However, both are timewasters.

Once you tried Discord you wonder why people are still using Slack.

Btw, Discord also surpassed Slack in traffic on SimilarWeb.

I did this recently for the same reason.

Do not wait and get a Linux system with i3 tomorrow. You will be so much faster and more structured in your daily workflow than with Alt-Tab.

A nice side effect: Apps feel much faster than on OSX. I don't know why but everything is snappier and just more resonsive despite a much weaker CPU and same hires screen on the Linux system. Especially the terminal rendering and application switching which is instant.
