Paying MDs to do physicals is as wasteful as paying engineers to install software updates.
In the 1990s, I received mail addressed to

I did reputation scrubs for recovering alcoholics who couldn't get jobs because of pre-rehab pictures and social media posts. I was a volunteer. I still think I did the right thing.
Do you really believe anyone has the time to weigh individual performance when told to lay off 10,000 employees? I've been on both sides of layoffs. I've seen functions, groups, orgs, and offices eliminated. Individual low performers are either managed out or fired with cause.
Can you suggest a few such agencies?
She lived near me. Now I regret never knocking on her door. This tenderly brutal remembrance reminds me that "obituary" comes from Latin "obiit", which means "s/he went away". Goodbye, Nikkie, we could have been frenemies.

You're right. Failed attempt at humor.
Building a universe one brick at a time, on a foundation of indisputable facts, Knuth is the methodological successor of Euclid and Aquinas.
Definitely alooma. It even uses alooma's semantics for naming variables and staging tables.
All true. But still a work of genius getting those gyro stabilisers into a consumer device.
This sounds like the pitch I got from a friend who drank the Theranos kool-aid.
I interviewed at ring before they were absorbed by Amazon. The hiring manager tried to close the deal with an inspiring story about using ring cameras to scare "gang bangers" who got too close to his girlfriend. I walked out. I'm white, but I remember Emmett Till.
Young, handsome, hungry.
When a friend was doxxed, I helped him get the problematic material excluded from current Internet Archive results. It was easier than I had anticipated. The volunteers who helped me were intelligent and humane. Keep in mind that at its core Internet Archive is a library that preserves and shares information. My friend was happy to have his personal information temporarily suppressed, but didn't try to change the permanent record. History will be history. He loves and cherishes libraries and has no objection to future researchers seeing his personal information 50 years from now. It's a great institution that we should protect and cherish.
Positronic brains!
Yes yes yes. Work does not love you back. Scale your love. Allocate it in appropriate increments. Sell your attention _dearly_. And remember you have a life outside of work.
My neighbor gets regular deliveries of live roaches, which he feeds to pet lizards. They come by US mail from a roach farm in Arkansas. Some farmer must be laughing his way to the bank every time he ships roaches to Los Angeles.
This was the first compiler I paid for as a grad student circa 1986. It was wonderfully useful, well documented. Tech support always responded to my letters and emails. And they sent me updates for years. I loved Aztec C.
If they'll sell our QuickBooks data they'll sell our TurboTax data too.
Many people falsely assume that anything leaked from a lab was made in a lab.
Tips are kept by employers in many industries. Restaurants. Hotels. Spas. My solution is to always tip in cash to the person who provides a service. Never on a card.
Remarkable. Thank you!
Me too! I use AWS all day at work, so I should be able to find the service that charges my personal account 64 cents per month... I'm glad that student got help.
Sad waste of resources.
I worked in adtech. I built a simple ML system that detected signals of fraud on our network. When I reported my findings execs told me the group that was facilitating the fraud was our only profitable division. Soon after, our company went bankrupt. My final paycheck was months late.

Puff piece with no technical details. This reads like a press release.
When I was hired by Microsoft in 2001, I crossed out and changed language in the documents I was required to sign. Nobody said a word. I suspect nobody looked at the originals.
