I've been wondering why Gemini CLI (and others) don't have this feature yet (letting the agent interact will full-screen/interactive terminal like VIM, or a running node server, a ruby CLI etc. so I tried to make a PoC to see what was the technical challenge. Gemini CLI did add a kind of "pseudo terminal" support (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45605823) but that still does not let the agent execute commands.

So gopilotty is my vision for a more "interactive" agent: a two pane window with a terminal on the left, a chatbot on the right, and the terminal is a combination of a "pseudo terminal" running bash, linked to a terminal emulator (for escape characters etc), and you can ask the bot to make edits in VIM (it knows how to exit !), run SQLite etc... Run it in a VM for safety :)

The original dancing link is one of my favorite papers, you can really see Knuth's love for algorithms (it's not in every paper you see sentences like "This process causes the pointer variables inside the global data structure to execute an exquisitely choreographed dance"). I'm using it to generate crosswords (the horizontal and vertical words forming an exact cover of the grid).

After 5 years working with a full-time SM (3 different ones) in my team, I still have no idea what value they are supposed to provide, or how they fill their day once the daily meeting is over. What would those regions be ? The Sahara isn't overpopulated if you look at the density of population, but it can't really sustain anybody. I'm sure there are some rain forests left to cut so we can grow more food for 1 or 2 billions extra people, but what's the end goal ? The world is overpopulated.

I didn't like the article. It cherry picks mild cases and appeals to sentiments to refute the "bleak statistics" ("the learning impairments and health problems, the strong possibility of heart surgery in the first few months of life, the reputedly high divorce rate of parents of a child with special needs"). It also makes it looks like a bad thing that we manage to detect and prevent 90% of the births.

Add to that the quote at the end about "every family should have a down syndrom kid" and all I can think is there"'s a strong case of misery loves company here.

You are supposed to respect a safe separation distance so that you don't "barely avoid crushing them" if something happen, not tailgate them. Since it happens every 3 months, consider if your driving might be at fault. If not for the cyclist, at least for the sake of not scratching your car, eh.

What matters is that the total population is growing, which push the prices up, I think mostly in already attractive and crowded cities ("Over a longer period, the population of the EU-27 grew from 354.5 million in 1960 to 447.7 million in 2020, an increase of 93.2 million people" https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php...). That's 93 million people you have to house, and they are not going to the countrysides.

I have been living in Saigon for the past 10 months. I'd say on the contrary, the first few days (what a tourist would experience) are the most stressful, but after a while you get used to it and it's alright.

I find taking the subway in Paris or NYC a terrible experience. The smell, the crowds, the stress... after a ride I need to take a shower. As an alternative, I prefer the South East Asia "motorbike centric" cities, if only they could switch to eletric it would be perfect.

I see many other comments in this thread saying that this was preventable, how so ? Looks like California tried a lot of things (stay at own orders, business closures etc) and they are not in a better shape than more "relaxed" states.

I think that issue would have deserved a national debate and a referendum. Debating the pros and cons on TV and radio and letting the population decide for once - how many people did or didn't want a lockdown ?

But you went from an anectodal note to the conclusion "This virus isn't something you want to mess with even if you are young and fit." as if it was an universal truth, whereas if you're young and fit, the virus is at 99.9% something you can mess with without any consequence.
