Is this so different in the end than industrial revolution? I assume the loom and the automobile factory were not open source, but many people bought cars and then copied them, bought looms and copied them. Maybe a finished car is more like a binaryexecutable than a blueprint, but how a car was produced is much less obfuscated by its nature than an LLM. Regardless, the world has many competing autos and looms which were not invented from scratch every instance.
The US has not been a democracy for over a decade at least, and this is common knowledge. I find it hard to believe anyone's ignorance is so brazen. Regardless of the sincerity of your ignorance, the fact that the US is not a democracy undermines your premise.

I'm sorry, once you've tried it you may not be able to go back. For close to a decade have been using an unmaintained app called nintype that was apparently the inventor of two finger swipe until it stopped working on new android versions... Heliboard saved me from actual despair
I have contributed to this. Heliboard also great because it supports two finger swipe which is huge ergonomic improvement
Swiping with one finger is faster than typing with two in my experience. But you can have best of both worlds, my keyboard let's me swipe with two fingers at the same time (heliboard on f-droid)

Not only does heliboard have swiping, it has two finger swipe, which is more than 2x better than one finger swipe!
I used nintype and keyboard69 for years, heliboard on f-droid supports two thumb swiping and works very well ! Not as good as nintype but extremely useful

Not just possible, currently being implemented. People are murdered every year using this information. Last year a US politician was assassinated by someone who tracked them by buying this information from aggregator. You thought of a tame use case!
And you can limit which contacts you share with nosy app like WhatsApp, and give access to only specific scope of file folders. Horrifying to think all the years every app got everything it wanted and did not have to ask and couldn't be stopped (I had a rooted phone for firewall capability for a while )

Every single app you've ever downloaded basically shares this same property. You either audited the code and know what it does or you are taking someone's word for it.

Yes but helix for example has very good discoverability by presenting commands on the screen which you can read slowly or not even notice between memorized key presses. And even ancient editors like vi it means printing out or having the commands listed in a window to reference which is a far cry from developer level ability.

Exactly, this is what I was getting at. The guy above uses open source software every time he touches anything electric.

I do too. The setup I've described is best for big screen work when I need tools that dont compromise in any way.
