He sure seemed like a legitimately good man.
I think one of my favorite stories about him is that he helped resolve a nuclear reactor meltdown

If this was a legit study I'd expect an arXiv link or similar instead. Looking at their methodology, it's vague enough to be interpreted as 'ok' but really I'd expect ALOT more information on their sample distributions, weighting done to that sample for comparison, etc. It skimps on all the actual details. Seems like clickbaity junk to me, but I'm open to the idea that there is meaningful studies to be had here on this subject, or that this was done in a proper way but was communicated poorly.
Reviews.org surveyed 1,000 Americans 18 years and older with a +/- 4% margin of error and a confidence level of 95%. The survey results were weighted to reflect characteristics of the United States population using available data from the US census. Respondents were asked to refer to their phone’s screen time report to determine the average number of times per day they check their phones, in addition to how much time in total they spend on their phones per day.Yeh, this isn't weird imo. This whole article is junk.
Lots of limitations here but they do offer an 'ask' button under some circumstances: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/14110396?hl=en
I've found it to be helpful in getting quicker information out of some 'review' style videos, where I can ask a few pointed questions and get answers faster than the narrator can get to that info. I hadn't found it to be wrong in my few attempts with it, but ymmv
I've seen this come up here and elsewhere before, always very cool! I always wonder who's actually using it for production workloads, in what context, etc.
It feels like so much of the world focuses on docker images that alternatives are pretty hard to get going.
I don't understand what this means exactly, could you please elaborate?

His stuff is fantastic!
Gemini does too, not sure that's all too surprising
Watching the stream now, they indicate that there's no active payloads on the side facing the moon, but there are some obstructed antennas. It's not quite clear how much that impacts communication but they also indicated that they have good comm and things seem stable.
Direct arxiv link, interesting stuff! https://arxiv.org/abs/2312.07750
Another upvote on this from me. His whole zero to hero playlist is great if you have the time.
Crazy that it's still down. I posted about it when it first happened: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37917050

I'm not sure why they wouldn't have been able to turn things around a lot faster, but maybe they're taking their time for some reason.
This worked for me: https://archive.is/eN5PY
ChatGPT4 regularly answers questions for me, summarizes web content, etc while providing linked sources. Saying it doesn't provide links to sources is not accurate. On the other hand, Bard usually (tho admittedly not always) directs me to use Google search for the latest information.

I'm not sure if it would suit you or not, but I've been very happy with my lenovo c13 chromebook. You can get a decently spec'd chromebook-version of a thinkpad for a pretty reasonable price I think.
Thank you for these recommendations! I sub'd to a few of them, though a few others seemed a bit outside the things I'd normally be 'into'.
Sid has always been pretty good for me. I run a mix of Sid and Stable machines. It really depends on what you're looking to use the device for, but I've never found severe breakages or anything on Sid. I probably wouldn't run Sid on a server though.
Seems like a good project, but I'm not sure why I would choose this over something like Debian Sid though?
Wow very neat, thanks! Happen to have any other similar suggestions? That one is backordered for months.
Thanks for this! I am actually just getting into sdr stuff as well and always appreciate any pointers or things like this.
This was my take away as well. I see a lot of imaginary, proposed future problems and no concrete issues that this is currently trying to solve. It gives the impression that it's just being put out there to muddy the waters and give some credence to an otherwise awful barrier to entry for the web.
That's brane or membrane theory. I think Ed Witten was a big proponent of it? I saw the same documentary btw ;-)
This is the way. I just swapped as many news, social (reddit/etc) and the like over to newsblur via RSS and I'm VERY happy. This OPML will go a long way to filling out my categories :-) Thanks a bunch for your efforts!
Thanks! I saw the posts and have been making a move to newsblur recently, this will help a lot with content!
Thank you for this reply! I'm really just getting into the design side of things now and started with some basic around-the-house stuff I could clobber together in tinkercad. I'll keep this in mind and try not to get bogged down on the 'what to start with' as much :-)
Thanks! I've seen this come up a few times with some youtubers I follow as well. Its got some limitations but might be just what I'm looking for.
A good starting lower bound would be the number of purchases after the fraudulent review had been left. If Amazon gets control of the content they host, they really don't have much to worry about.
I just got into 3d printing as a hobby a few months ago and this has been my take away from their offerings as well. I use TinkerCad for most things; I'd like to get into Fusion 360, but I'd be a little afraid of learning a bunch about that software only to have more and more of it become out of reach behind licenses that don't make a lot of sense to buy as a hobbyist. That said, the products look great and seem to have everything a creator might want, so it definitely makes sense for pro shops to license and use.
I went searching and was sad to find it'll ship without touch support. The display sure sounds great, but lacking touch is kind of a deal breaker for me.
