I mean the last commit for Elm core was in 2021. Changes require sign off that doesn’t seem likely from who is currently maintaining it. Why not fork it if you are interested in evolving ELM?

So the big question I think is who to trust here.

Here is his mother denying it: https://twitter.com/mayemusk/status/1654983542336520192

Here is Elon's story: https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1654971702571331584

Here's a video of Elon back in the day on CNN talking about sleeping on the floor and buying his first expensive car with the money he was making from x.com and Justine Musk saying she fears they will become spoiled brats: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9mczdODqzo

So who to believe?

Does anyone know if Twitter was losing money for letting these third party clients have access to the firehouse?

Are these third party clients paying for the API or sharing revenue with twitter?

There is literally no proof that John Ehrlichman said this to Dan Baum in 1994 and when Dan Baum made this statement John Ehrlichman was already dead and could not refute it. Note that his estate has denied this statement.

It also is not accurate that the Nixon administration increased incarceration of drug use. That occurred under Reagan and Clinton.

However, Nixon was the first president to coin the term "war on drugs" but this was a rhetorical flourish. The Nixon Administration repealed the federal 2–10-year mandatory minimum sentences for possession of marijuana and started federal demand reduction programs and drug-treatment programs.

I'm also sad this passed. It's actually not universal at first. It starts in 2021 offering seats to black, brown, illegal immigrant, teen parents and other traditionally "disadvantaged" groups first when it kicks off in 2021 and doesn't ramp up to full universal service until 2030. There's an additional tax increase that will take effect in 2026, that takes the marginal tax rate from 1.5 percent to 2.3 percent for single people making over 125k and joint filers making 200k. On top of all that, the measure would over-pay teachers 77k above the market rate, which is 33K. There's also the additional rider that they will prohibit suspensions. If you ask me, this bill only passed since it pushed the responsibility for paying for it to someone other than the majority of people in Multnomah county. It would have been more fair if there was a sense of shared sacrifice and skin in the game with everyone contributing to it. I imagine there will be more tax increases to help pay for all of the increase cost of a) people moving into the county for this free perk and b) people moving out of the county to not have to deal with this additional tax.

I'm actually really sad this passed. This takes money that was earmarked for schools from the Marijuana tax fund and puts it in unproven addiction treatments.

It also takes away the only real leverage of consequence that legal authorities had at compelling people into a treatment programs and replaces it with a 150 dollar fine, which won't be paid anyways.

Sure, I mean all you're doing is basically loading up static content. In which case SSR HTML will perform just fine, but you do happen to use client side logic for your comments section which also makes sense to me. A SPA for your site isn't really the use case for SPA.

What exactly does "system-oriented" mean? The article seems sort of contradictory to me. On one hand he is saying having goals is for losers and you need to be system-oriented instead, but on the other he is saying that his goal was to make it rich and he just tried a bunch of stuff until he reached that goal.

The example of the person constantly looking for a better job is also confusing. Isn't the goal of that person to have a better job and he is just repeating the same goal over and over?

I disagree. I think that you have to take ownership of your own career and advancement. Until you reach a level, where you can really take ownership within a company.

Employers these days will not raise your salary at market rate without you jumping from company to company.

For example, person A stays at one company for 5 years and person B jumps from company to company every 1 to 2 years. At the end of the 5 years, person B will be making a lot more than person A.

The other day several american muslims strapped a bomb onto themselves and killed themselves and many innocent people in a suicide attack in Kenya.

If there were actual legal mechanisms built into the US constitution or laws created that dealt with fighting an asymmetrical war with people like this then I really doubt the President would go through this process, but that's not the case.

I'm not really sure how we should handle this but this isn't some evil plan to grab more power by the Obama administration, it's an ad hoc solution to a really difficult problem.
