UI looks promising but unfortunately performance was sluggish. Will have it under my radar for future, for now sticking to pgcommander.

Don't think too far. Find a problem of your own, your family or friends and try to solve it. Best chance is that if you have it, someone else might have it too.

Is it only me or this sounds like a terrible idea? Maybe it will eventually be more productive but during the transition phase, there'll be mayhem. Not to mention all the unusable clocks, hardware etc that'll have to be completely scraped.

If you want my humble opinion my friend, you're pretty much fine. Your addiction is quite bearable and you seem to have a pretty structured routine which is a luxury for most of people. Maybe get some more exercice and relax... everyone goes through some bad times every once in a while. Keep calm and keep hustling... everything is fine..

Hey, looks like a good approach on a problem indeed. One tip though... try to eliminate at least half of the copy in your landing page. Add more bold headlines and limit the paragraphs to 2-3 lines max.

Where "Christian" you can put whichever company grows along with it's API/code/lib usage and utilization by others.

As I see it it's a purely "hype" role and it's essentially a tech-aware marketeer seeking to attract fellow developers and engineers to work and experiment with his company's platform and products.

If it should be "simple" and internal, no it wouldn't fit well. I wouldn't recommend it for any type of in-app communication actually. Depending on the architecture of the app you're about to build I pretty sure there are tons of more reliable and scalable solutions.

Ultimately, the best and proper way to be a console master is to install a Unix distribution on your one and only everyday machine and avoid any sorts of X or Window manager at all.

I'd say get a chance to personally interview them. Invite them to dinner, grab a beer/coffee with them. Make it friendly and casual. Always give them some sorts of carrot for their time... Surveys are too formal and impersonal. They're also easily skippable cause make people bored. Emails too. I'd say personal meeting or phone call.

Some quick thoughts: - If you have product, your first developer should at least be familiar with your technology stack. 2-3 years hands on experience should be a must imho. Avoid arguments like "He looks like a smart dude, he'll pick up things along the way" - Not sure how it's done in your country but at least provide a tidy and accessible workspace, equipment of choice as well as insurance coverage. Not to mention a descent salary. - You should look for someone who gets the job done. Not a crazy scientist, not someone who perfectly explains theories, not someone with a jaw-dropping CV. You need things done, within deadlines. Whatever things it might be, so yeah he should be able to get his hands dirty with various stuff not only the one, two things he mentions in his CV. But again, it's not sane to find the perfect generalist.

I think the best solution is to release the first version and only scratch the surface about the marketplace. Do not directly hint about it. Maybe the early feedback of the first users will give you an idea of whether they want a marketplace in the first place or other major design/market directions you might want to follow to please them before spending time and money on something you're probably unsure will work.

Most of the UNIX ecosystem (*BSDs, Linux, etc) is solely developed using C. In addition to that, most embedded operating systems and real-time applications that require heavy interaction with the hardware use the C programming language because it's versatile and low-level.

This is probably what most people call "perfectionism". I myself have this... "curse", if you want. It's perfectly normal to think that every piece of your work is not the best thing, cause by doing it you get a tiny little better, which for perfectionists is enough to look back and judge strictly. Learn to accept some little things here and there once in a while just to maintain normal levels for free time and sanity. :)
