Security Engineering is a small but mighty team (we went from 2 people this time last year to 14 today) securing systems at very high scale. Platform Security works at protecting the platform we're building these high-scale systems on top of. Looking for all sorts of backgrounds to apply; Security folks of course, but also SRE and backend devs with some security feelings.

Among the projects we'll be doing next year are:

- mTLS for S2S auth

- Expanding malware detection by leveraging VirusTotal and other platforms

- Building WebAuthN requirements and other security controls for Discord the app (we're the only enterprise customer of Discord!)

Can be in office in SF, fully remote, hybrid, whatever you feel. My team has people on 3/4 continental US timezones.

Stack: Python, Rust, Elixir, Typescript, Google Cloud Platform, GKE, Kubernetes, and more

Not the parent commenter, but there's a lot of features I like out of Pocket Casts that Spotify doesn't do as well.

- Queuing/auto-queuing to a next-up playlist (with features like add to start or add to end)

- Faster playback (e.g. listening at 2x speed)

- Alerts when new episodes drop to a given feed

It's very configurable and works well.

Also, I just dislike having to abandon my music queue when I listen to a podcast on Spotify. It's nice to have music playing at home, pause it, go for a walk listening to a podcast, finish the walk, then resume the same song/playlist at home.

I never understand this line of thought. We invest in infrastructure to enable people to move between places, commune with one another, and trade goods. We've invested a tremendous amount in roads. Why do we expect other things like the USPS, Amtrak, etc. to generate profits when they're an expenditure in infrastructure?
