For the last few months I have been seriously considering applying to be a TFA teacher. But this article has definitely opened my eyes quite a bit.
The fact that even the kids themselves realize the lack of quality in the teachers should be a huge indicator that something isn't right.

Pretty simple and easy to use. However as someone who uses teambox.com I find it lacking quite a bit. I use Team Box for features like the gant chart, other app integration, and team sharing.
I can definitely appreciate the work but I would need a better reason to switch.

Super smart on AA's part, with this and their sponsorship of things like Startup American they're weaving themselves into the startup and hacker community. At the end of the day they're going to get way more than $10,000 worth of ideas/apps/products.

Check this out: http://hackdesign.org/ They have a weekly set of "lessons" they send you and the reads are all really good.
The idea is cool and the browser looks like it would have some pretty neat features. But realistically I feel like there's already Google plugins and extensions that will let me do the majority of things shown in the video.
Not to bash on the product, but the logo also reminds me of and makes me feel like I'm using a spam filled search engine that's going to add yet another junk tool bar to the top of my browser.
Definitely love the idea of revolutionizing the web browser though.
It's a cool looking alternative. But functionally I know it doesn't really meet my needs. The circles make the calendar view somewhat confusing to look at and I'm not a big fan of not being able to look at my tasks in order that they have to be completed within an individual group.
Cool idea just not very useful for me personally.
Really like the idea!Funny thing is I always advised people to do this when I worked at a web hosting company but somehow never actually got my own father to implement this in his business...time to practice what I once preached.

Thank you for the advice, the thought of this being one of the last chances to really spend time with my father has definitely been a big factor in my decision.
I have to say it looks pretty darn sweet. Super clean and fluid...but then again it is a promo video.
I do want to know how well it'll play with other services and apps. The video chat part of the video looks awesome but if others have to be on Ubuntu to be able to take full advantage of it's feature I'll be disappointed.

I would agree with you to a certain extent. However I think with how popular startups are becoming and with the number of people wanting to become a "coder"...(which I will shamelessly include myself as trying to become.) were starting to see a shift towards respecting the ability of programmers more and more.
People are slowly starting to realize that "oh crap, these guys can turn the switch off on my "thing" if they wanted to." So people are starting to wake up a little bit.
This article is sweet! Sass is definitely looking more and more appealing.

I would say the amoral part would depend on the situation...like the whole contractor vs. employee conversation a few comments up.
But the VPN part, totally agree...you'd think that would be common sense.
I haven't used Sass yet but it seems pretty cool. Does anyone know how it compares to Less?
As someone who once had the mindset of "I'll just find someone to build it for me" this post definitely hits some great points for anyone wanting to work on even a weekend project to consider.
Even learning some of the basics has made a huge difference in working with others for me. Being able to communicate and understand what a developer is talking about makes a world of difference when building something.
Great list! I'm currently trying to teach myself some ROR and have been trying to think of ideas...this list will be great help.
I'm currently working on a project of turning a TON of data into something less of an eye sore than a ppt slide...you good sir have given me one hell of a jolt of inspiration with this post.

This is truly awesome. What's even more awesome for me as a noob is to see what the web design/dev community is like out there. People really and truly care about educating others and sharing the knowledge they have...now imagine if the people in every industry were as open and awesome?!
