I think the metaverse is something very cool and for it to be associated with Facebook which comes across as a toxic company causes resentment. Something cool and futuristic that I've read and dreamed about has been tainted before coming to fruition because of who is making it. I hear great things about the headsets but I just dont trust the company that makes them.

If you entangle two particles at the quantum level and then take particle 1 on a trip around the world. Due to particle 1 traveling closer to the speed of light that particle two it has traveled through time slower than particle 2. Now if the state of particle 2 is changed will that be reflected in particle 1 instantly or after a fraction of a millisecond. If a time difference is encountered what would happen if you change the state of particle 1 would particle 2 already have been change a fraction before or not ?

This sounds fab, I worry all the energy saved in ethereum will just be transferred over to crunching bitcoin instead and no actual energy will be saved.

I cycled the UK coast to coast with friends. We did a peleton on a boring straight cycle track that went on for many miles. We managed to do 20mph for a couple of hours with each of us taking a turn at the front for 5 minutes a time.

I've also done track cycling where you leave a 30cm gap between wheels and have no brakes. That is truly unnerving.

My previous company had had such a stable team with no-one leaving for two and a half years. The pay was not amazing but we all got on well and the company seemed to treat us all well. A new CEO came along and got the CTO to make a third of the team redundant. Soon after everyone left apart from 2 devs and one tester (16 in team originally ). They will struggle to offer support and introduce new features now. Its a big shame really good things were happening and then bang it all fell apart.

Spock logic "needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" as an individual it will feel wrong but from the point of view for the many it seem selfish.

I do think people with no vaccine now are becoming more and more at risk as the vaccinated population grows with more social interaction without much consequence to the vaccinated. This has increased the risks to the unvaccinated. Being a holdout is not a great position to be in now.

I use to love brackets, especially with the responsive plugin. That made responsive development so easy. But then visual studio code came along and I stopped using it apart from for the responsive work. When the responsive plugin no longer worked I stopped using brackets all together.

One of the best hires I had made had a car crash interview. They could hardly speak they were so nervous. I could see from their CV that they had some good personal projects and thought lets give them a chance, that's what prohbation periods are for. On the job they were amazing. It was great to see them grown in confidence and they were a key figure at the company after a couple of years.

As a consumer, I have lost all confidence in facebook adverts. I see no shortage of scams with no real way to report them as a scam. One example was a series of adverts for a bike computer / light / alarm that was launched on kickstarter that I backed. I saw repeated adverts from various companies reporting to sell these devices for $15 to $20. I checked with the actual company who confirmed they were not real. Every time I blocked / reported the advert a few weeks later the same advice would reappear but a different seller.

Often adverts show you a great product sold for a third of what should be charged. If you buy they send you something worth a fraction of what you paid. If you pay they ask you to send it back for a full refund or they might offer to return some of the money. You need to pay for the return though. Facebook have these scams all over the place. I have lost all trust in the platform!

I ran a sql script that migrated a database, it all looked as if it had worked perfectly, but the category Id's had changed. The main website handled this fine but I found out a separate system that sent out daily offers by email proudly advertised Domestos Bleach as the drink of the day.

Personally I have moved away from Apple for music. I found the apps on both Mac and mobile get worse and worse. Things that were easy such as using AirTunes got much harder to use. I uploaded my music collection to google and use a combination of that and Amazon music. I find myself wanting to create a playlist for my Apple watch for jogging and putting it off as I dont want to deal with iTunes.
