I heard something on the Tim Ferris podcast the other day about how Kevin Kelly (founder of Wired) tries to give away or kill as many of his ideas as possible. If no one takes the idea or he can't kill the idea with a fatal flaw, he knows that he needs to work on that particular idea. That said, ideas are a dime a dozen while execution is priceless.
I'm curious as to what you find as well. I did some hardware stuff in college, and would love to get back into it.
I agree with this. You can build an amazing product for the Indian consumer, but if the people can't use it, what good is it?

You're a little stuck because in order to validate that people want what you're offering, you'll need to get them to buy something.
I wouldn't spend time working on the full product without being able to sell anything.
I guess your challenge here is to try and validate your idea without accepting payments in some way.
Or find a co-founder with a bank account.
