You're right and H1B transfers are easy and would only scare off an inexperienced employer. I moved jobs twice on a H1B without incident, even though one of my employers tried to make it an issue. I'd suggest the generally precarious immigration status of visa holders in the US contributes to this myth.

It looks like the paper says they were given 3mg/kg THC per day for 5 consecutive days. So it does seem the dose is specified.

It's pre clinical and far from surprising but 3mg/kg is a lot of THC, the equivalent of using ~1g of strong stuff by yourself (assuming no THC is lost during consumption).

I also like keeping my personal and professional lives separate. However, there's a lot of times where texting is more efficient than email in the workplace and we've found that businesses communicating with a lot of people - like on demand companies - need more powerful tools.

I agree, we've never closed 100% of yeses. However, dragging it out with one of those investors, assuming they refuse to say no is worse for them imo as it creates a clear paper trail of bad behavior which hurts their reputation.

Figuring out the business model was tough. We started off with a freemium model and pricing that was a hunch. Now we're doing 30 day free trials and it's much easier to spend time on the right kind of customers.

In Europe and a lot of developing countries, where missed calls aren't charged for - this kind of 'nudge' communication is pretty common. I have no idea if it'll work in the US but it's certainly valuable when both parties already have known context, e.g. 'I'll missed call you when I'm outside'

SaaS Vanity Metrics 12 years ago

We've found that people who come back after 3 days, are very likely to be there in 30 days, assuming the product solves their problem. In general, we treat them as steps in the funnel - complete signup to become MAU, come back in 3 days to be HEU. We look at where in the funnel we're currently failing and spend time on that piece.

I often feel the same way. I did suggest 3 'better' metrics in the article. The problem is we're brought up on generalized metrics and when in reality we need most likely need to create our own to really understand how our business is working, imo. Although the created metrics can/should be derivatives of the most often used metrics.

Hackpad 13 years ago

We use Hackpad as our wiki at SendHub and it's awesome. Great job guys and congrats on the well deserved coverage.

We're upfront about the probationary period with all candidates, they start knowing they'll receive a lot of feedback in the first few weeks, they'll get an opportunity to see if it's a fit from their side and also from the team's side.

I think getting hiring right is a process, we were certainly a lot more hit & miss right after demo day, than we are now.

This is false.

At cuil we were told by mgmt of the launch date and our very talented PR team kicked into gear and generated a ton of buzz via a nationwide press tour.

Despite popular opinion, the ops team kept the site up during the massive traffic surge. A combination of poor mgmt, initial deference to user testing, last minute commits and a nasty indexing bug were the reasons the relevance sucked on day 1.
