The outrage is justified if the screen cracked due to a manufacturing defect. Otherwise, get over it and be careful with your stuff if you can’t afford the repair.

The largest floating solar under development that I know of is in Seychelles. It’s about 5MW. Haven’t heard much on the development timeline post Covid.

I don’t think the systems are new or unique. We test drive a Kia last weekend and it was a feature they called “Driver Attention Warning.”

I’ve seen this in other brands and cars as well.

It looks like these systems use a variety of factors, steering patterns, frequency of vehicle lane assist being activated, cameras evaluating driver, biometrics (heart rate, body temperature etc.), and face monitoring/eye tracking (to see if the driver is focused on the road).

We own a Volvo and have received surveys asking about our comfort level with these features, so I’m assuming this will be commonplace soon.

A fundamental difference is that for Americans, natural resources are owned by the individual property owner rather than the state. If you find oil on your land in the US, it is yours and you decide what to do with it. In most other countries if there is oil on your land, the government has the exclusive right to oil (or other sub-surface minerals).

We tried and failed on my team. We switched to Basecamp instead. Found it got rid of a lot of the time wasting and helped us focus on real issues.

What drove us was a cultural shift away from immediate responses to task based responses. If you do stay with slack it seems like shifting that culture is the most thing to focus on.

I was going to work on this. It's really interesting how it works and it is now producing 26 MW of electricity (40% of Rwanda's supply). It's estimated to have capacity to generate another 800 MW.

The technology started with a local brewery needing a stable power source. It's super cool. The platform they use is huge.

It's amazing how political maps are. I wonder what method Google uses to determine borders. Disputed borders and states must be a nightmare to deal with.

I remember reading a while back that if two states have a border dispute, Google rendered the border differently based on your IP address. I wonder if that is still going on here.

Football (Soccer) is so much bigger globally than American football, it's not even close. The Super Bowl attracts 100 million viewers, a Real Madrid vs Barca game attracts 400 million viewers (a regular season game, not even champions league).

This is actually a really bad idea because of attorney-client privilege issues. By having a third party record the call, Uberconference or Gmail or Rev or Zapier itself, and it being sent forward to several other services, Soylent most likely waived any claim of privilege they may have in the event of litigation.

If you are a company considering doing this I would be very cautious.

I commend the hack, but unfortunately the legal world of ethics isn't moving as fast as technology.

Crime is an issue but shouldn't be a complete deterrent. The political environment is a bigger concern scares people off. The BEE/indiginization issues are very real and should be considered.

With that said, I would live in Cape Town in a heartbeat, great food, culture, people etc.

In Africa, I would consider

Kenya: good internet speeds,

Ghana: booming local economy,

Nigeria: lots of entrepreneurial spirit,

Angola: 4G network

A good way to store them is a physical copy in an old address book. Use the alphabetical directory for the site name and then you won't have to worry about forgetting them.

There are some hilarious passwords listed, just keep entering combinations of profanity to see. f*you is there etc.

I have not validated the idea yet, that's what I need help with doing. I think the best way to validate it is to build a prototype of some sort (it's really shouldn't be too complicated to build a simple prototype, I just don't have the skills).

I am planning on validating the idea at a startup weekend event next month.
