Blender 5.2 LTS 3 days ago

I created a whole Counterstrike map back in the day in a few days.

Meanwhile, I can't get anything substantially done in Blender in a week. I just gave up.

I find it much easier to cull photos quickly now by thinking that a bad photo will unlikely become a great photo just because you edited it.

If it doesn't catch my attention on my first culling pass, I just delete without regrets.

My process is to take a lot of photos, then ruthlessly cull them before I do any editing.

I usually keep around 10% of the total photos for editing. After that, I do another round of culling and keep only the best.

I also follow a philosophy of "good enough". If left to my own devices, I would probably endlessly edit photos.

I edit a single photo for around 3 minutes. That way, I will not feel stuck.

Genuinely asking: if you are touch typing, do you really need keyboard backlighting?

I agree. In my youth, I will just read anything that catches my fancy.

Nowadays, I have to be picky about what books I read, even one amongst a pool of books that I like.

That or I have to reduce my time for my other hobbies.

It has always been a trade off of security and convenience.

The fact is most people will favor the latter.

For me, it's just deteriorating attention span.

It's hard for me to get into books nowadays. But if I manage to get through a few pages, the momentum carries me through.

I don't hate reading. I just have trouble starting.

Is the one-time purchase versions guaranteed for life?

If not, then this would likely go the way of others before where it will eventually be removed.

I thought EDH would satisfy my casual interest in MTG. But it ended up being worse than competitive play because of politics, vague deck building restrictions for balance(brackets) and difficult to organize people to play.

I settled into boardgames(especially solo boardgames) last year to satisfy that itch.

I see at least 2 reasons why we don't see proxy play in MTG.

One is the strong dependence on your peers for approval. If your group is against proxies, then you are screwed.

Second is that there are now more ways to play against each other online for free. This approach is much more convenient compared to creating proxies IRL and allows you to play with other people outside your peer group.

I have just discovered Strudel last month. Even as an owner of Ableton, there is just something compelling about coding music in.

Then it will compete more with those entry-level SFF PC builds.

I still hope that they will compete with console pricing though.

Valve making more devices to propogate Steam is a good thing. If they achieve critical mass, EA will then be pressured to implement a compatible solution.

Good thing Valve is not a publicly traded company unlike Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft.

This is the mindset that makes the Steam Machine DOA if not priced correctly. No one will pay $800 just to play Hollow Knight in 4k

I will pay that money to finish up my backlog of games on Steam. I already pay that much for Steam Deck anyway.

I agree with the other guy. Just plugging in my M1 Max Macbook to an external 4k monitor makes it hot to touch. I don't what they are doing with the cooling on this laptop.

I have always been interested in Elixir but have been putting off learning it because I don't see many job opportunities for it(at least here in Asia).

But your comment has convinced me to try it since I am having a bit of NextJS burnout.
