Existing nuclear reactors may have safe track records in terms of their operation, but we still have no long term solution for high-level nuclear waste disposal. At all.

The decommissioned plant outside of San Onofre, for example, is now storing nuclear waste in steel canisters on site. That site is on an earthquake fault line, right next to the pacific ocean [0].

Unless we come up with a complete end-to-end model for safely handling the waste, I don't consider nuclear to be a viable option. As it stands, it's a massive liability to the health of our future environment.

Playing on the population's fear of terrorism is just a tool used to consolidate power. The will to power of the government is not evil, but it must be constrained by an educated population.

The intent of the 4th amendment was to guarantee privacy in our personal lives. This protection has obviously been eroded as the the information of our lives has become digitally interconnected.

I think the real question is what do we do from here?

The same technology that binds us together could be used to create a true democratic system. It's time for us to evolve past the American democratic process, which was designed to protect against the "tyranny of the majority."

I will say, I was happy to see the 135 degree angle mentioned. If you meditate, you know how much posture and physical positioning can impact your state of consciousness.

Having an upright spine (standing/kneeling/sitting with a stacked spine) facilitates an alert, problem solving state of consciousness.

But for less mentally intensive tasks (code cleanup, research, intra-day relaxation) reclining in a "zero gravity" position is an ideal restorative posture. We don't need to be upright for all types of work!

Individual productivity is intimately linked to spinal positioning and physical comfort. I've been working on creating a product to elegantly facilitate multiple working postures. If anyone is interested, DM me and I'd love to chat about it!

Yep, totally right! It is the fermentation that breeds the friendly bacteria that help us out.

Electrolytes are really just vitamins and minerals (Ca, Cl, Mg, P, K, Na, etc.) so you can get them from food :)

I do think filtered water is important because I respect the rule of bioaccumulation--if it kills small things, it's usually bad for big things in that food chain. The disinfectants used to treat tap water are poisonous to us at large doses, so I try not to consume even small doses if I don't have to.
