Why Web3? 5 years ago

The point is that YC's model contradicts what you said. It's relatively inexpensive to build an initial version of a product. Build something as quickly as possible, get user feedback, and keep iterating.

I can guarantee you won't find anything Paul Graham has written about doing a bunch of marketing analysis as a first step.

I've been on this website a long time and I suppose the userbase has grown quite a bit. I don't assume everyone has read all of Paul Graham's articles or even know who he is, but are you familiar with how YCombinator works?

Enough money to survive on ramen for a few months and build a demo. Get feedback from users and iterate over and over.

generally people say one should market their product first then build it if there's enough demand

I don't agree this is the common wisdom, and it's kind of a surprising take to see on this website specifically.

I don't play as much chess that much anymore, but ICC (chessclub.com) was the king (and I'd guess that it still is).

You don't play via the website though. Same for other chess servers (FICS, etc).

You could buy a first class ticket and hold on to it for a year, then use the lounges whenever you actually do travel.

It doesn't look like this is possible in the US though. I don't see an airline that offers their lounge just for having a first class ticket. Alaska even requires a ticket for the day you're there.

Possibly things have changed, but I remember PG posted his correspondence with a car salesman via email trying to buy a Jetta or something. Basically got stonewalled.

How would prosecutors go about that? Going through all his blog posts to look for depression? And that would be standard procedure for everyone they prosecute?

Politicians should represent the entire country...

Suppose I decide to vote instead of not voting at all. So now the winning candidate (who I may or may not have voted for) represents me, whereas he didn't if I hadn't voted?

...prisoners and convicted felons should also be given the right to a vote. If someone is going to pass laws that affect you, you should have a say in who that someone is.

Ok, what does that have to do with compulsory voting?
