Dropbox is pretty good about never losing data. It can be suggested that this is one of the most interesting or valuable parts of its technology. Its practical use of bandwidth is another.

Entrenched ISPs have complained that Google is getting special treatment. I find that somewhat disingenuous. It seems to me the difference between existing ISPs limp efforts to expand broadband and Google's is that Google did a decent job of telling municipalities what they needed to bring higher speed data to their constituents—and they did it in a very public way.

I think it's a good example of how one can bring attention to the senseless bureaucracy we all complain about. Instead of complaining, bring about actionable steps.

I'm particularly glad to read that UCB is changing up the curriculum and introducing open source. Speaking from my time there and my discussions with EECS alumni, it felt like a lot of the curriculum was outdated and many felt ill-prepared for the modern advancements in computer science introduced to them in their day-to-day jobs.

True, except this is an indicator that efforts to increase interest in computer science among young females appears to be making inroads. This should embolden those groups working to introduce computer science to young females.

I wonder how much of a factor the decline of middle class spending is affecting the tablet consumer space. A phone is a more necessary gadget. A tablet could be considered a luxury item. Maybe people just can't fit them in their budget?

I don't think I've seen anyone attempt to do it with the Dropbox API and your mobile contacts, but I'm pretty sure it could be done.
