I haven't used Cloudflare specifically for infrastructure but PAAS offerings like this have huge vendor lock-in which is a big risk. Not to mention if that feature you need isn’t supported by their abstraction you’re out of luck.

I cannot fathom what it must be like to witness this in-person. The pictures are spectacular but to spend time experiencing it outside the window in your proximity must be overwhelming in the most incredible way.

It doesn't really explain why these cameras are particularly good for use in space except that the crew just like them. All cameras in this bracket are good in low light and have decent long lenses. Why are they any better in high radiation environments than other cameras?

Anyone else find the naming odd? What’s the relevance of “Neo”?

It feels like one of the only Apple products where the name is completely divorced from its intended usage (or defining feature)

- Phone

- Watch

- Pro

- Studio

- Mini

- Vision

- Air

- Neo???

It’s odd not to see Photomator in this bundle. Feels even more likely that they’re going to kill it off in place of the regular Photos app.

This might be a hot take, but I feel like the blurring of lines between back-end and front-end apps with platforms like Vercel will lead to more and more of these exploits. I’m an experienced full-stack dev and I’m constantly confused as to “where I am” in a Next code base. Server? Client? Edge? Proponents might say “that’s the point - you don’t have to worry about there you are, it’s one code base” but these sort of issues indicate otherwise.

All platforms can be exploited I guess, but I still wonder at the complexity of the platforms we now rely on and whether it’s justified.

This is a patronising comment - first telling us what we should be concerned about than telling us there’s actually no point in being concerned about anything anyway, change just happens and we should get on with it.

What if AI isn’t like the other changes you’ve experienced? What if a superintelligence is developed (or emerges)? What are the implications of that? Can it be controlled?

The people running the biggest AI companies in the world are themselves worried these questions, so we should be too.

HN is exactly the type of place that should be interested in discussing issues like this and it’s unfair to just dismiss the concerns.

I agree with this. I thought I had aphantasia the last time I read about it here.

Then I started interrogating all of the people who claimed to “visualise” things and it turned out we were all doing the same thing - conceptualising in our “mind’s eye”.

For example, anyone I’ve asked to visualise something with their eyes closed can also “visualise” the same thing with their eyes open. It’s happening “somewhere else” and not in your vision.

So I think the term “visualise” leads to a lot of the confusion.
