I've been meaning to write a bot that randomly posts the Always Sunny in Philadelphia quote "Because of the implication.." every ten minutes. It might get gummed up a bit with RIP or self-harm threads but I am certain after enough time it would be net karma positive.

Now, Tayne I can get into.

This tweet bubbled up this weekend and it touched me: https://twitter.com/ambernoelle/status/1297191195584663554
I believe this is the article: https://muse.jhu.edu/article/495241 I can't get a sci-hub for it though.
I can't think of a worse name for SEO purposes. You'd have to fight through a well loved and well known space telescope, the astronomer it was named after, and Hubble contact lenses, which has raised ~74MM.
Shoot me the YouTube link.
Jeff Krulik pioneered this approach in the 80s. Not to diminish what AGNB is doing, but it's almost like The Office to his Spinal Tap.
Don't quit your day job.
As it should be. In aggregate it makes total sense. The distillation to a single user's streams is a distraction from the critique having no merit.
I should have been clearer, I used 70% of revenue because that is what Spotify gives to artists. Of course, software can do that as it scale infinitely, retail cannot. I can't tell if 70% is generous or not -- many independent artists think it isn't.
Can someone explain why the revenue sharing model is broken on Spotify? A lot of bluecheck indie bands complain about their meager $28 monthly checks. I even saw a performative tweet from a label the other day: https://twitter.com/DonGiovanniRecs/status/12865225202213847...
Let's say I run a bookstore. 70% of my revenue goes to pay workers. A works 32 hours, B works 5 hours, and C works 3 hours.
Is it not fair to give A 80% of the pay pool, since she worked 80% of the hours?
Finally, terrestrial pop radio, independent college radio, and ham radioesque bedroom experimentalists are all on the same platform, the swim lanes have been erased. Everything is flattened, everything is discoverable, yet the sobering truth that few people are streaming their work elicits attacks on Spotify from bands and marginal artists. How is their contempt justified?
I hope this isn't off topic. I've been interested in perusing Usenet groups from the 80s like rec.music -- I swear ten years ago this was possible. I can't figure out how to do it now. Did the massive load of binaries kill off archival efforts? I can't find a search engine for Usenet anywhere. I'm just interested in plan text conversations.
Ackshually, it was $999.
What's the max time in updates allowed?
Are you sure it isn't 76% with all that hard cold data you're using?
I wonder what would happen if I signed up for Doordash as a driver, picked up as many orders as I could in one evening, and just donated the food to the poor and needy? How long until I'm booted and banned as a driver?
For those of you interested in donating to archive.org, you should be aware that they recently bought out Bop Street record store in Seattle: https://www.seattletimes.com/entertainment/music/a-happy-end...
While they might have gotten a good six figure price, that store is known by fellow record dealers to be largely garbage LPs. It is more accumulation than collection. I wouldn't trust them with donation money for whatever flight of fancy they have next.
Yes, that's true. Avoid an either/or situation. John Cage said that long ago.
Yo that's crazy good, put those as line items on LinkedIn you will have to turn off notifications so many people will be bothering you.
It's almost like they need you to click on random shit to defraud advertisers.
Hi, don't take this as a challenge or a "cite your source". Didn't the bubble pop 2000-2001? I'm asking because I'm wondering if I am remembering it wrong, I lost my job kind of late but I worked with IBM. The "I got $50K of options!" 22 year olds all got jacked much earlier.
Great example. People sign up for BabyCenter, maybe from a paid search ad. Nine months and done. Insanely high advertising CPMs there because first time parents are about to make life long purchasing decisions.
Are you allowed to talk around what you did there? Or even write "Top secret, I can't talk about it". I think you need some line items of some sort, because those are three great companies. You'll probably be out of work for 17 minutes.
I'd much rather have a LinkedIn or a GitHub, I can't stand personal portfolio sites with a lot of frippery and it's unclear what they actually have accomplished.
He needs to put line items into his LinkedIn, that's for sure. But he was probably dodging recruiterspam.
I love VLC. You're a lead on that? Cool.
That's a great point. Never occurred to me.
I disagree, I had 100,000 uniques on my third blog post. Of course, there was less Internet in 2005.
They say that about advertising spend too. I think it was David Ogilvy but I'm too lazy to look it up.
If it brightens your day your product looks cool.
I can't validate this but have been told this by multiple authors and SEO professionals. So it's anecdotal. One blogger apologized to me and told me she was embarrassed doing it but it's an industry practice. She explained it's because other recipe sites use automated scraping tools and republish their recipes in an effort to outrank original authors. The personal fluff helps slow them down. Also, a lot of recipes are bullshit, they manually steal them from elsewhere and change a few variables to evade copyright claims. Although, I guess changing a few variables is how cuisines evolve.
