When I got my first SSD over a year ago, I bought a 250gb OCZ Agility 3 drive. Not knowing about the very high drive failure rate. It died last week, completely without warning.
I've just switch to Sublime after using Notepad++ for front end web dev stuff, it's beautiful. Combined with the Zen Coding plugin and various snippets it's dead handy.
Indeed, particularly as it would come under civil law and not criminal, if done for personal use. Plus I was under the impression that here in the UK downloading is legal, and it was the uploading that wasn't.
I watched this last night. On the whole it was a pretty stupid programme with equally stupid people not knowing how to report and block people. Why not just ignore sites like littlegossip, and why have a formspring account.
"I love that the whole thing is narrated like they're tracking down an animal in nature. I loved the end "So, there you go, an internet troll. That's what they look like." Yep, that's what they look like." - this did make me giggle though.
I've had many issues when working with Prestashop. Something as simple as removing the category ids from the URLs was a major pain, there were a few work arounds and one which involved modifying the .htaccess file every time you added a new category. Now this included modifying core files, which made updating PS an issue.
Also importing products was another major let down in Prestashop. Are there was a lot of hacking around the TPL files to get various things working.
I think this is a great move. Although it would be interesting to see how many people actually take the new subject.
The problem at the moment is as the article says, just get used to Microsoft GUIs and not know anything behind them. And what happens is people do other things in the lesson, as they get bored, or find it to easy so they don't even bother. The whole MS access stuff can be very dull.
They could even bring in sections of web development into the new course, ie setting up a LAMP environment and learning PHP. And not just learning to create table (shudders) based rubbish in Dreamweaver or the like.
Or on the comp sci/software dev side of things learn Java programming for Android. Although I would think that iOS dev would be a step too far at this stage - not sure?
Or maybe start teaching them a high level languages such as Python or Perl to help give them a good understanding of programming practises etc.
