How the hell does this story have so many upvotes?
HN really needs to do something about Microsoft's vote manipulation - it's becoming quite blatant at this point.

It probably is - much like their Pokemon Go + Google Cloud article.
When will HN readers that they are furthering corporate agendas when they upvote fluff like this?
It's because the 'problem' it solves is a corner case that's rarely encountered. I love their absurd examples of repos that take 12 hours to download. How many people have that problem, really?
All they did is create a caching layer.
Not interested in politics - even if it's from Sam.
Flagged.
Recruiters are salespeople. Treat them as such.
The other problem is that lots of people upvote without reading - or even skimming.
Great title? I'll upvote it now and read it later. Maybe.
More corporate propaganda where they leave out the key details and don't address easy questions.
Much like IBM's bullshit 25,000 jobs PR stunt this one has no substance besides the empty words of a suit who will do anything to increase revenue.
Hi Nate, tell us about your efforts to hire people over the age of 40.
Don't waste your time, it's PR bullshit:
"“It’s a very powerful headline, and the timing certainly makes Trump look good,”
The staffing up isn’t particularly surprising for a company moving into multiple categories from groceries, hardware and video to fashion and cloud services. But the move could appease Trump, who tangled with Amazon Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos during the election campaign.
I think all AIs in my lifetime will simply be Chinese Rooms
Do not include me in your pity party.
America's governmental resources should be focused on American problems and not a civil war half way across the world.
I don't care if you perceive me as a monster but if people over there want to blow each other up let them - we have plenty to worry about over here without being the world police.
Microsoft continues to try to convince us that they are great with press releases and non-organic stories such as this.
I, my peers, and my co-workers just don't see it. With billions in reserve it's no surprise they are trying to buy popularity.
Why are they allowed, period?
Is the community OK with turning HN into Reddit-lite - because that's clearly what's happening based on the topics that get upvoted.
Thank God we got this new Google press release to the top of HN so we can all help them teach their AI for free.
Friendly reminder: Less than a year ago Steve Balmer himself called Microsoft's cloud numbers "bullshit"

Absolute marketing trash with almost zero technical value.
If I linked an old style "HP Whitepaper about Success with Customer X" it would be downvoted to hell - but that's exactly what this article is, but by Google instead of HP.
Less and less.
Too often comment chains devolve into nitpicking, pedantry, and into off-topic discussion where two people fight tooth and nail for Internet Points.
From a technical perspective I get little or nothing from them, and from a discussion standpoint there's little reason for me to spend my time watching people nitpick each other over things that nobody in the community cares about.
On a related note, the FBI recently uncovered a $20m H1B fraud operations http://www.computerworld.com/article/3064712/h1b/us-uncovers...
Generic outrage story, flagged.
They sure are and it's much worse on Reddit.
With Microsoft's shrinking relevance to modern computing it's a given. They have billions in the bank so they might as well spend a few million on fake upvotes to give their products an illusion of popularity.
When your own former CEO calls Microsoft's current cloud numbers "bullshit", they probably are.
So like a Google search?
Investing in China? Sounds on-topic for HN to me.
My view has been that someone always works for someone else. Even the most powerful board members answer to shareholders and entrepreneurs answer to their customers - lest they go out of business.
Tell me about why you don't think you have to answer to your customers.
Yep. People come out of the woodwork to praise MS when they do something that involves Linux, but when they are caught (yet again) doing something anti-Linux it get very quiet.
I think this headline sums it up best: http://www.infoworld.com/article/3042699/open-source-tools/m...
In Windows NT 4.0 in 1999 they found this when Microsoft accidentally released the debug symbols: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NSAKEY
Who you believe is up to you.
Now is the time, Pud.
You're reallllly simplifying a hard problem. "Just pack the bins tighter, no big deal." This is what Omega/Borg/Mesos are all trying to - it's not an easy problem.
Also, you're assuming you have enough work to keep all machines busy all the time....
Great troll, 10/10
