Use one big server 4 years ago

I feel like this would open up the company to too much liability. Too many of your apartment users are torrenting/streaming/ too many DMCA filings to deal with when my main business is "hypothetically" being a top 3 nation wide payroll provider.

We have disk shelves now, wouldn't the next step be a "network shelf"? And probably a "GPU compute" shelf later on with some kind of high-speed high bandwidth backbone tying them all together. Turn the whole rack into a glorified backplane. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ sounds like something IBM would do.

My fear would be that they see this product has a bigger market at targeting make hair loss than hearing loss. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to take it today if it would rid me of this wretched ringing.

How would, say, the base model 3 compare against a 2 year old base model C or E class? Or the same 2 yeah old Lexus Es350 or Volvo S90? All sitting comfortably in the base model 3's $30k price range. I've heard the driving experience is definitely better but I have serious doubts that the quality or fit and finish would match.

A plumber can't just go into a home and install something outside of code.

That is....not true at all. A plumber/carpenter/electrician works to code under threat of losing their license. Additionally your building could be exempt from code for numerous reasons (grandfathered/historical, outside of city limits and no county building codes/etc.) Developers and Software Engineers don't have this threat.

Do you remember bench seats in cars?

Still available in full size trucks, more likely to be found in fleet work trucks though.

5 minutes of googling tells me the 2013 Impala was the probably the last car sold with a front bench option. I would have guessed it would be that or a Crown Vic.

json in linux shell? Yes!

Fortunately for me a 10 whole lines of sed, awk and some trimming and a for loop turned my json into a CSV to pass back to a legacy system. No curl or json modules necessary. That being said, if I needed anything more complex Python would be my default.

because enterprises run huge and old systems performing critical functions, these systems get modified around the edges (small extensions, bugfixes, performance tuning), not completely re-written.

Not every enterprise runs a single huge monolithic app or codebase.
