Windows 10 impressed me, but overall, I miss those POSIX-like conventions.

The lack of a package manager. Chocolate GUI is kind of a joke. Even Synaptic could queue multiple packages back in 2000.
MSFT promised an SSH client. It's nowhere to be found.
Overall, I'd rather fork over the cash and get a POSIX-like environment with OS X. If not, Fedora and Ubuntu are so featureful.

Hacker culture may not necessarily be aligned with Eich's personal views / situations. But crucial underlying concept is ignoring nebulous things like that. So taking action / reforms based off the premise feels like a Chesteron's fence [1].

Recent versions of Firefox have introduced third party plugins (like pocket).
After the Eich thing, they lost the "hacker" cred and their talent was pretty easy much poached. Further, the concept of merit - overlooking the political in lieu of skill / talent - is no longer a core value of the organization. [1]
Recruiters were all over linkedin and taking away the best talent left and right.
It Mozilla on an upswing or a decline since the Brendan Eich / Firefox OS stuff happened?
They're kind of shifting more from technology into politics. I heard they were cutting employees and divisions a lot.
I know former employees have to sign a waiver not to talk about their layoff, but why hasn't Mozilla's layoffs gotten any press, but startups do?

In other countries, like UK - not giving an alibi in situ can be used against you.

This creates a chilling effect of distrust which discourages informants. No one worth his salt can take a cop at his or her word. And I think the cumulative result that has on communities is drowned in relation to what we see with cop violence in the public eye.
Not having a line between community and police means cases can go unsolved and serious crime can go unpunished.

I disagree. I hear too much talk about solving gaps and creating jobs, and not single shred of sympathy for the simple rich.

The people causing the social outrage debacles, often can't program. They're complete outsiders who think they can use social ideas and useful idiots as a vehicle for their own benefit.
Many QAers and PM's can or have programmed some, at one point, or else they wouldn't understand the domain of the problem.
Most of the trouble crowd tend to be social marketers and so-called "evangelists" on twitter.
They're not programmers.
These people leading the vanguard of your code of conduct movements - they're not even really tech. They're happy when you invent these new job positions to give them a paycheck.
And what if I did? Learning to ignore things that could unreasonably sour your mood is a valuable skill in life anyway. Life itself doesn't really have a code like proposed.

It seems that as that's picked up the new norm is a "race to the bottom" for women who want traditional relationships.
This is so backwards.
Women use tinder to get attention, not relationships. Rarely sex.
Men are the one's in the race to the bottom. They get ignored by all of them. The women use it to treat men like ants.
Yet these studies and willing betas still treat women like the victims.
As men, the larger issue is this cuckold-psychology where you have to sound charitable to females, even if it takes flat out denial of situations. Women still hold the power.

How is that a bad thing? I think that's a zero sum game way of looking at it.
No damage is done if someone makes a closed source version. They can add value and stimulate competition. More often, they fail.
Occasionally, core developers may enrich and provide additional functionality upon a permissive core. Why not look at Postgres as an example?
And what harm is done? Lost code contributions? Some have no interest in collaborating on software they can't incorporate / copy from later without restriction. It takes time to wrap ones brain around a codebase.
Why would someone take time to understand the internals of a GPLv3 app, when they could never incorporate pieces of it in their code later on?
