This looks cool, is it your own project? I've released a while back a similar project [1], and I'd be interested in knowing the technical side of the project (platform, ...).

The main problem will be creating an engaged community, since at least in my case, lots of users come in, do an action once and then they forget about the site until the next time they have something else to share.

Uber has been banned* in New Delhi because they were "misleading customers". Uber said its service is safe for women but without laying the ground base for that, they only rely on summary checks (undergone the commercial licensing process, hold government issued IDs, state-issued permits, and carry full commercial insurance) instead of thorough background checks. That's why a previously convicted sex offender became an Uber driver.

To me it's a case of false advertising and they will support some consequences.

In all honesty, I saw an #Onion tag at the end of the tweet and I thought it's a story made by the onion - had to read twice to see it's Orion, though it has more credibility with my first interpretation.

Bad idea, ads are also a way to support the site/service you are using. Automatic ad clicks can get that site banned (i.e. Adsense will surely do that) so that's a sure way to kill the site. Google for instance wouldn't have existed without ads. Lots of people on HN saved millennia with help from Stackoverflow (ad supported) and so on.

I'm now "ad-aware" so I know how to differentiate content from ads, but I will click on an ad if it's something that's of interest to me. I support the publisher this way and also get some value out of it. I don't like sites filled with ads but my way of "punishing" those is to avoid visiting that site.

Very well written article, but does anyone else think that the cartoonish image advertisements don't really fit well with the purpose of the article?

Their mistake was not to mention that the hardware isn't built entirely by them (mainboard is bought from China). However, I don't think it's fair (the backslash). They bundle the hardware with a software, they will handle the support, future updates so it's not like they are simply reselling a Chinese item. If this sounds outrageous to you then you should be outraged by 99% of the electronics items sold (because you can always buy them cheaper in China).

That's a great package, but what I don't get is why the "mozilla bundle" name if this works just as well on Chrome?

Can't believe they designed a logo especially for this worm (and gave a fancy name). There's apparently a marketing campaign in vulnerability discoveries too.

This reminds me of a movie scene in Breaking Bad where they remotely "wiped" a laptop's content. Guess that's plausible now.

SensorTower is buggy and annoying, I much prefer AppAnnie & MobileDevHq. I compared[1] them a while back and ended up concluding that the free tiers of AppAnnie/MobileDevHQ are enough to do some basic ASO.

To what purpose? As long as it is interest from a government/powerful institution to spy on something they will for sure develop a way to do so. Nothing is safe...

You also have one in 'No limits on size, and its free.' Should be "it's" in this situation not "its".

My point too, the text is very unreadable. On the homepage they have the green background and white text with some effects, you barely can read it before your eyes start to hurt.
