SKIP LOCKED is a good idea to make sure that the tasks can be processed independently by the workers, but what about a case where you have to guarantee the order of events?
I guess this Postgres queue is a very handy tool for cases like background jobs, but will it work with event sourcing?
Warsaw (Poland) uses the bulkheads which were designed originally during the cold war era to provide an atomic shelter for the civilians. Fortunately, they weren't ever used for the original purpose, but they are now used as a prevention during the storms.

From a viewpoint of a person who never got to learn awk, this was a very nice introduction. Managed to finish it in 15 minutes, almost everything done in the first try, so congratulations to you for providing good explanation for each example.
On a plain 2-lane roundabout when you're driving the outside lane you are not forced to leave it at the 2nd exit.
Sometimes there are even no signs/arrows on the road that require you to do it. It is expected of you, but if you happen to be one of the drivers that suddenly change their minds or you don't know how to drive on roundabouts you could continue driving around in the outside lane.
So a typical situation which makes roundabouts dangerous is when you're driving in the inside lane and you want to take the second exit (on a 4-exit roundabout that's going straight). If a driver next to you (in the outside lane) carries on driving until the third exit, they'll crash into you.
If it happens to you in Poland the situation even more stressful, because according to law, you are (partly) the responsible party, because you were the one who changed lanes!
IMHO, that's why turbine roundabouts are a great idea. Too bad that there aren't many of those or they are implemented incorrectly. See [0]. The outside lane ends in only 2 of 4 exits. Is it 50% safer though?

I am wondering how did the "meek" strategy look like in detail.
Because, if you try to occupy the very first spot available, then of course it makes very little sense. But I believe that a "human meek" would instead skip the whole line of unoccupied spaces and take the last spot in such a line. This "unoccupied line" does not even have to begin with the first parking space, but for example with the third. Though you need to assume that the line of empty spots is in driver's line of sight.
In Polish the situation is similar. 'X' does not appear in the Polish alphabet, but is understood as 'ks' (or 'ee-ks' when spelling). For example, 'xero' is pronounced 'kseh-roh' and sometimes written as 'ksero'. I guess it's true for many languages with Latin origns/influences (but I'm not an expert). So 'Xerox' would sound like 'kseroks'. And Windows XP sounds exactly backwards: instead of 'eks pee' you have 'ee-ks peh'.
The letter 'X' was widely used in Polish language 100-200 years ago in loanwords. Nowadays, you can't really see it anywhere, because the language adapted, and the ortography of those words changed.
