Most people here seem to forget that ads is what pays for the free internet services. The main issue with them is not making the consent more explicit to the user. I think the business model: you either get this for free with ads and targeting, or otherwise you have to pay X, should be more common. I bet most people would pick the free option with ads and targeting.
I got to understand from personal experience that the anti-SOA people are usually the ones who stayed at the same company their entire carers, never saw any model other than the monolithic one, see SOA as a threat to their domain knowledge within the company and simply are not able to see its downsides (because they have adapted their ways of work around it and never experienced anything better).

It is your responsibility to know what your reports are doing and making sure their efforts are recognised and their flaws corrected (or ultimately fired). There are many miscategorizations like that. It is also clearly written by an American leftist, with, for example, Michelle Obama's biography as "mind expanding books everyone should read". I am sure they are completely oblivious to their political and geographical/cultural bias though, as typically happens.

I see the opposite... For example, since a couple of months/updates ago Finder doesn't show me new files in a directory unless I force the search with spotlight. It is remarkable that a bug like this can happen in such a basic feature like the file browser.

Even clinical psychology seems to me a very dubious area. In many cases it is not linear to evaluate success when the main identification of the problem is based on necessarily limited, indirect and biased data (patient testimony) and the result of treatment is behavioural change. Who controls for potential unintended damaging consequences of behavioural change? Fixing one issue can't be the definition of success when dealing with such a complex system. The approach seems too simplistic. I have seen people coming out of "treatments" with their initial problems apparently fixed but with new perspectives on life that proved to be just as damaging. Some level of scepticism is probably a good thing.
